tx and rx have nothing to do with each other except coax.

Are you sure you are txing audio out? Meter movement does not mean audio is present.

Here is the list just scratching the surface.

  • Bad antenna
  • Bad coax cable ......grounding externally or internally with shield.
  • Bad/poor ground for antenna..........door to body, painted parts when mounted elsewhere.
  • Antenna installed incorrectly. Nylon grommet must insulate antenna from contact with mounting bracket. Coaxial connector must have contact with bracket for grounding.

I have royce cb base station it transmits it receives..it has modulation//it does not have any sound..checked sqelch rf gain cb/pa switch???

The internal speaker is probably blown. Try an external speaker and see if you can hear received noise. If you can the internal speaker is likely shot. If not, try an external speaker in the PA socket. If this works, then you have a problem elsewhere and need to take the radio into the shop for repair.

I have an almost new Midland 75-822 that the WX works fine on, but the CB doesn't seem to receive, or transmit. It operates normally, but no reception, and no evidence of transmissions.

you'll need a schematic and some knowledge. there a two diodes that control the rx and two that control the dx.Check them to make sure they are producing the correct power out put if they are not you should replace all 4

I have a Cobra 18 wx st. I am not able to transmit anything on it. I have checked the antenna cables and and all external connections. I receive all the wb just fine but the CB gives me nothing. I tried a...

That's usually a defective amc stage that produces RX audio and TX modulation. It's an integrated circuit that will require a tech fixing it. You will have a transmitted carrier with no modulation, and no sound in your speaker. However, make sure you have a good mike plugged in first, and substitute a known good mike to verify it's not the mike. With the WX band working, the above may not apply.

See if you have a carrier...signal going out, but no modulation. Get your Tech to check the mike wiring/circuitry inside the radio, also.

Cobra 75 wx st everything seems to work eccept receiving signal meter will spike on trx and it seems to receive but no sound there is sound in wx mode

WX is for weather. If you put it on WX, and you do not hear anything, then you need to change the weather station it is on. in wx mode, you change weather channels by pressing channel up and down. To communicate with 2 way, press the cb/wx button so it is on CB mode.

Transmits but doesnt receive

If the meter shows that it's receiving something, the microphone may be the problem. Another possibility is the speaker & plugging an external speaker in would confirm this. Aslo make sure the squelch control is turned all the way to the left (counter-clockwise) & the RF gain is turned to the right (clockwise).
