SOURCE: Printer feeding paper uneven and jamming

to be honest mate I am quite gutted myself before I purchased the p4350 I had an x1130, similar printer ie, all in one which lasted for about 3/4 years..but it recently stopped feeding paper. ie.. feeds it in on the right hand side and then gets stuck.. same problem. so I decided to replace it and purchased the p4350.. as i thought the problem was a one off!! But oh no.. i AM VERY SURPRISED THAT AFTER ABOUT A MONTH this printer has done the same thing!! I am hapy yours is too as i know it is not something I am doing wrong!! I can't personally find a solution to the problem. luckily I can replace it easy enough because I got a replacement cover out on it... BUT I won't be changing it for another lexmark! and I am just going to email Lexmark now as their paper feeding mechanism seems very poor as many other people are experiencing the same problems with different Lexmark printers!!

SOURCE: Printer feeding paper uneven and jamming

My proposed solution was given to me by a Lexmark Tech. It applies to 4350 and 4850.

1. Under the Control Panel, choose Add Remove Program
2. Repair Microsoft Framework 2.0
3. Load MSCONFIG
4. Choose Selective Startup -- you will need to restart the computer
5. Uncheck Loadup Start Items -- too allow the complete program to load
6. Uninstall Lexmark
7. Reboot
8. Install Lexmark files from support.lexmark.com

Hi
Check through the paper path for any obstructions.
Fit the paper properly on the feeding tray.
Clear any print queues.
Turn the printer off and on.
Disconnect the printer from power and from the PC, leave it for a while and then connect it again.

Paper will not "feed" from

this is an issue with the papper feed and pickup rollers if it is not taking the paper from draw you need to replace the pickup and feed rollers also check the paper feed clutch if no good replace as well
Also make sure also make sure the paper is being lifted up when you close the draw you should hear the tray lifting the paper up to the feed system

Close drawer...

Take paper draw out of the machine you mite have paper behind the draw preventing sensor monitoring that draw from working properly. Mite get some can air an get any paper dust off the sensor for that draw. Is paper properly installed and are the paper guides securing the paper properly installed? Don't be storing additional paper in the draws. Is paper in the draw matching what is on the operators panel.

Take one of those flat plastic rulers and push it through all over.. so that any forein ripped paper whatever, clears the way.. The paper is supposed to buckle on entry.. That's how it's designed. It could be a timing issue.. when the paper is fed in it buckles against the timing roller.. the roller turns only when its supposed to. Each sheet stays buckled against the timing roller until it turns, that's how the machine draws only one piece at a time. It's could be the feed clutch.. There's a little magnetic clutch that actuates the feed roller to pull the paper in. when this feed clutch gets weak it barely works or it slips and doesn't pull the paper in at the right time. I've replaced these often on my equipment.. but I've also found that static electricity plays a big role. If your area is too dry, the paper sticks together increasing the resistance, pulling either multiple pages or just too much resistance for the feed rollers.. screwing up the time.. Make all adjustments to the feed rollers first to ensure it's not a huge problem before you start looking for a clutch. Essentially if the paper doesnt make it into the feed roller on time it is a timing issue.. but it's starting from the feed rollers.

Paper draw

Check if the rubber draw rollers are pressing the paper down properly.
If this is okay then see what is the default thickness of paper that has been configured .
Similar problem had happened when my friend had printed a whole stack on photo paper and set the thickness of paper to highest level to ensure paper is not stuck inside, later it would not draw in normal thicknes paper till we rest the paper settings.

Doesn't recognise draw full of paper.

I had exactly the same problem. It is caused by the paper feed rollers becoming shiny and failing to get a grip on the paper. The cure is easy. Disconnect the cables, remove the paper tray and turn the printer upside down. Carefully peel off the two rubber 'tyres' on the ends of the feed roller, turn them inside out, and refit them. Reassemble the printer and it should work perfectly. Obviously, you can only do this once......!
