Manual for a whirlpool microwave oven model wmh31017aw-1

There is no turntable control. It is always on. The turntable should change direction each time the unit is used. If the turntable is not operating, it has malfunctioned. Newer microwaves for the most part all have full-time turntables to promote even heating, thus reducing customer complaints about ovens that don't heat right.

It's important that high-current devices like microwaves be on their own dedicated breaker.

I would suspect the 20A fuse and then the oven cavity thermostats, in that order.

There should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.

At
our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number from the tag on the oven here.

Accessing some components (such as the oven cavity thermostat) for testing and possible replacement will require you to remove the oven from the wall.

If so, the installation instructions are very handy, and it's best to have two people since the microwave can be heavy and awkward.

You can download Whirlpool owner's manuals and installation instructions here.

Model #mh1150xmb-0 The light bulb under the microwave burnt out (with a bang) this morning. Although the lights and clock come on the microwave it won't start.

We see (and repair) this a lot. The problem is on the control panel, which we regularly repair nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid with a one year guarantee.

This light failure often occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament shorts, or when the bulbs are removed or installed without first unplugging the oven from the power line. Either can cause such a failure on the controller.

This can often also affect the exhaust fan, cooling fan, turntable, and/or inside light operation, too, and on these models, can prevent them from starting or running.

Details of our service are at our Web site, along with a video showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

I just installed a new MH1150XMB and the door is cloudy lookinh. There is a plastic film over the inside of the door, does this need to be removed?

Normally, no. That protects the metal mesh which blocks microwave energy from getting out the door.

Check your owner's manual.

If you do need to replace that clear cover, or any other door parts, etc., you can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number from the tag on the oven here.

you'll have to buy a new control pad, or if you can solder you may take display out and see if the connections are broke to those buttons and solder them back.

Whirlpool MH1150XMB-0 runs but does not heat food

If the housing of the unit isn't too difficult to remove (normally 3-5 Phillips screws around the rear edge), with the unit unplugged of course, check for a user replaceable fuse inside. The magnetron is separately fused and fuses can fail due to metal fatigue. It will be high amperage; 10-20 amperes and many hardware stores will have them. BTW, there is no residual radiation from a magnetron that isn't operating.

Whirlpool Microwave excessive grease build up

First you should be sure the ventilation is correct through the oven.

If you don't feel air through the vents when it's running, that needs to be addressed.

Also, it's important to wipe off the interior surfaces whenever moisture seems to be accumulating.

Also, it's recommended to leave the door open a few minutes after cooking to allow it to dry.

Please feel free to contact me directly if you need more help.
