Like you said the unit is capable of playing DVD RW and DVD-RW. However, some discs may not be compatible due to format of the files on the discs, software used and laser pickup. Curtis DVD player does not supports the file type.

what error does it give? mine reads avis fine, as long as theyre within resolution limits. same for windows media format. couldnt get the mkv files to work though. the usb drive has to be formatted fat32, ntfs does not seem to work. burning these files to dvd as a data disc is another option. lets you fit 10+ hours of video on the disc vs your standard 2 or 4 hour max limits.

Is there a Divx logo on the player? Does this particular DVD player capable of reading DVD+R disks?

If you used the Divx converter program, there is a way to create a DVD in Divx format with menus. Did you use that particular program? If you didn't, you may have the DVD in a data format and the player can't read it that way.

You need to convert avi files to dvd format before burning, otherwise the player won't recognize them. Google "avi to dvd" and you'll find a number of free or pay programs that will do the conversion for you.

u need to convert this file to a right dvd format, not just drag and drop them to the disc. and also, u need to choose the right&less limitation software, like iDVD, when you use it to burn files to dvd, it can only played on mac,not the DVD player. For some small software, take (www.aimersoft-mac.com) as a example, it will be less limiation, good for the start users.

OK what type of file format are the files in on the disk you are tying to play?

IDM-1731 does not like .AVIs.

Check your documentation as to what type of files your player can actually read and play.

If you are pulling them from an S2 Nero Vision will convert them automatically from the .TIVO file to a DVD player readable DVD. Works gread and been doing it for years.

.Vob files contain audio, video and subtitles all together.However, most MPEG-2-capable DVD players don't support subtitle tracks. I guess your DVD player is in the mentioned majority. That's why you can only play them in your computer drive.
