I push scan and nothing happens - Epson Stylus CX5400 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Did the light start blinking? Unplug the USB cable from the scanner, and replug.

Try:

• ERROR LCD: CANNOT SCAN FROM ADF
• ERROR: Cannot scan for these reasons:...Code : 2,178,0
• ERROR: Printing... Scan after it is complete (Code : 2, 113,0)
• ERROR: Scan Failed
• Nothing happens after Start button (for Color or Black) is pressed (after Scan is pushed or selected)

you need to have mfc connected to computer with scan software running in order to scan, if you want to copy you just press copy and it will scan and print without computer connected.

You have a bad scanner assy which will cost more to replace than a new printer.

Try using the scan program provided by Hp already installed in your computer.
Double click on "My PC" select the OfficeJet scanner icon and do a the right click, and then order to a scan.

I had the same problem as both posters.

I downloaded the most recent firmware from dell (3.11T, A03) and reinstalled it. When you run the program, there's a radio button that says "printer" and one that says "network". I did the one that said "printer" and nothing happened. Then I ran the firmware update again and picked the one that said "network" and it started working shortly afterward.

I'm assuming that some component of firmware in the network card was messed up. I could still use the network printing but the "scan" button wasn't working. This fixed it for me. Your Mileage May Vary.

Download the Reference guide for your machine from th eEpson web site. It will inform you what you need to do to complete the scanning options. you can also download the Epson Scan utility to help with scanning to email etc.

try to reinstall the printer drivers and then check to see if you installed all-in-one correctly.
