MP3 players can only play music files in mp3 file format.
You can download mp3 music files onto your computer and then copy them to your MP3 player.
For CD disks you need to convert your CDs to mp3 music files onto yourcomputer or download them from the Internet and then copy them to your MP3player.
You can do this using Windows Media player and Rip the CDs - Media Player willcreate a MP3 music file for each music track.

The above answer is false completely false. Windows allows you to import a cd in a few formats which you can access this feature through the windows media player
tools -> options -> rip music
Most if not all mp3 players allow for multiple formats wav wma mp3 are the most common.
In windows media player if using recent version(s) (since vista) there is a pane on the right of the player with tabs play/burn/syn
Switch to the sync tab drag and drop music you want then just blow the play tab above your unit's name/icon it will say start sync and have a circle made of arrows. click and just wait a few sec - min depending on the amount of songs. there is also a progress bar that tells you also the Space usable and will decrease slightly (depending on mp3 size) each time you place a song in the list to sync. During sync you can get a better look at what song is syncing/have been added but clicking on the progress percentage bar. A list in main view will appear showing what song it is on what's been added and what's waiting will also let you know if a song fail to sync.
