Hi there,
I am using canon powershot a80 and Transcend CF 256 Ultra 45x card. Everything was fine until now.
I was on my vacation and took some cool pictures. But one day something happened.
My camera shows that I can took 40 pictures. So there is about 40 mb free space. But when I switch to play mode, it shows "No image"
how can I transfer that photos to my PC?
thanx in advance

Re: CF card problem
Try a CF card reader. If that shows no files then try some file recovery software with the card reader acting like a drive. There are some nice freeware programs that might help.
It may be that the files are corrupted then the solution is more difficult.
Good Luck!

Take a look inside your camera's CF card slot. I suspect that you may have a bent pin in there. If so, don't fret. Although professional repair would be more costly than the value of the camera, there is a chance that you can repair this yourself. Please see this link.
It sounds memory card is defective and preventing camera to turn ON. Check camera with another memory card or try this memory card in another Canon camera to confirm it.
See this link. The symptoms indicate that your CCD (image sensor) failed. Canon will repair this at no charge, regardless of warranty status. Contact them as described at the link.
Seems your Canon A80 camera got known problem of bad ccd imager IC that needs to be replaced. Canon will replace ccd imager free of cost, click Canon CCD Imager Advisory for details. Thanks.
Vista requires updated drivers for most of the older cameras. Unfortunately, Canon chose not to update the drivers for many of these cameras, including the A80. BUT please see the following blog article, as it describes the use of a card reader as a much easier, faster, and less error prone way to download your photos. In fact there are several important reasons discussed in the article for using a card reader vice downloading from the camera. USB Card readers are also very inexpensive these day, with cost virtually not an issue. Just make sure that you get one that's stated capable of reading a CF card:
If nothing else works, try using a usb card reader to get the pictures into the computer's hard drive. A nice usb card reader is available in all electronics stores such as Best Buy, Walmart, RadioShack, and so on.
