My toshiba p25 s670 laptop is gravely ill. Screen stays black, (or almost black) and disk doesn't do anything on power-on. Disk doesn't spin. No beeps. Power LEDs come on, and disk in in perfect order--I took it out and was able to read it in another computer. Problem does not seem to be memory, as dropping from 2, to 1 board helped any. different power-brick has same results. After removing huge heat-sink on cpu, I see it was very clogged with dust, making me think it just died after too long and too hot. sound right? Any other suggestions? Can I buy a used cpu chip and pray, or another p25 s670, that seems to have working cpu?

SOURCE: power on but no screen oor hard disk motion

Hello there:
i would suggest using a spare monitor and connect the cord that would normally go into a computer and connect it to the laptop and then plug in the power cord for the monitor and turn on the computer if this works and everything is ok then you know that the laptop screen may be faulty or there may be a loose connection somewhere ok?
best regards michael

SOURCE: My toshiba satellite p25 s670 suddenly stops

boot it to safe mode, then run a system restore a week before the issue occured. if there is any resource in conflict with what was installed, this will be removed and problem resolved.

if that did not help, open the laptop up and remove the memory and hard drive, then re seat them properly.

SOURCE: toshiba a135-s2356 laptop no bios screen on power up

Hello,
There are 2 ways you can reset your bios2_bing.gif.

1. On the motherboard there is a small watch battery. Remove this battery along with the power cable from the power supply. Hold down the power button to fully discharge the system. Wait 2-3 minutes then reinstall the battery2_bing.gif and plug in2_bing.gif your system. Your reset is now complete

2. Some motherboards have a 3 pin jumper by the battery. Lets say that the jumper is on pins 2 and 3. Remove the jumper while the machine is OFF and place onto pins 1 and 2. Power on your machine for a minute. (Note: Your system will not POST). Shutdown your machine and put the jumper back to pins 2 and 3. Your reset is now complete

This is a great troubleshooting2_bing.gif step for those of you having POST issues or no POSTing at all. Like other troubleshooting2_bing.gif steps, this will not always work but usually will depending on the problem.

Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.
Thanks.

The monitor on my Toshiba P25-S5093 does not have any display of any kind; all black. I have display using external monitor.

Hi,
Does the display show anything before you enter windows? If yes, then press the key to transfer video back to your original screen once you enter windows. It should be the function key "Fn" + F5 - F8. looks for the icon which shows a monitor or says "CRT/LCD".
If it doesn't show anything before you enter windows I'm afraid your screen needs to be replaced. Good luck.

Toshiba laptop screen is blank but proceesor is

Hi:
One way to determine if just the screen is bad is to connect a computer monitor to your laptop and toggle the display to it, and if you have a picture, the lcd or inverter is bad on your laptop. Usually all you have to do is hold down your function key and then hit the display mode key, on my laptop it is F8

Toshiba satellite with windows xp will only show black sreen and wont let windows xp repair

Your description of the symptom shows that your operating system installation has been corrupted. Fastest and easiest way to resolve the Issue using the "Recovery and application disk" (it comes with laptop) to perform full system recovery. I would like to remind you full system recovery will erase everything saved on Hard drive. You can check possible option on http://support.toshiba.com

If you dont have recovery and application disk you get one. You can call Toshiba @ 1-800-457-7777

Please post if you need further assitance

You don't have a USB thumb drive plugged in do you? Remove any discs ( CD, floppy etc ) & check the BIOS boot order to start with.
