Hello. The screen goes black means that the backlights of your LCD is not working.Maybe the problem is the power supply or the driver board of the backlights. They shutdown because there have a shorted parts on the circuit or power supply.
Did you try to reset the power and turned on and get a picture or every time that you reset the power it will get a picture and the picture goes black?

The set will need to be properly diagnosed to narrow down the problem. You could be looking at a bad inverter, bad CCFL lamp, fault in power supply or main board.
If the blue light continues to flash after the screen goes black, then you need to reinstall the firmware. Look at http://screenplayprohd.wikia.com for information about getting the firmware and installing it.
If the blue light goes solid after the screen goes black then you probably just need to switch the NTSC/PAL selection. Press that button on the front panel several times, waiting a few seconds inbetween in press. If it continues to be invisible, plug the drive into another TV using the composite cables instead of HDMI to confirm if the menu comes up at all. If it does, reinstall the firmware.
remove the back panel of set
on the crt pcb board you will find a wite or black pot.

7. Using the remote, press VOLUME UP once (OFF changes to ON).
8. Press ENTER. After a few seconds the screen turns green and shows - Industry INIT success - at the top of the screen.

Good Luck, big IRISH.
PS; I did not make this up... it's from SHARP> again good luck...you may have to do this several times....too...get the timming down.
Turn off your closed caption and or text mode using the closed cation button on the Magnavox remote or through the TV's menu there wil be an option to do so.
Anytime an LCD has a shade of pink, that means the CCFL lamps are about to go out. Now that you have a black screen, I'd say you just need some new bulbs.
