I don't know how to change keys. No manual. What do the osd and pbc buttons do on the remote, and the bscan and fscan buttons do on the machine?

OSD means on-screen display (clock, counter, etc. if applicable). Press OSD button and observe the screen.

PBC is playback control (applies to Video CDs to allow the user to interact with them using menus) - not a very reliable function for this disc format.

B-Scan & F-Scan generally means back and forward scan (search) respectively. They're a bit like fast forward or rewind functions in a VCR - press those buttons while a music CD is loaded and see what they do. (probably skip forward or backward over a track and you can observe the counter display while doing so)

It's very simple really once you have done it a few times. The bonus here is that it didn't cost you anything to ask, and won't involve any repairs by a workshop, as long as the player works fine overall.

One cd player stopped working have no manual

Are you getting any sort of errors on the display. When you say it stopped working, what is it doing or not doing exactly?

If it's the CD tray - very common - it will have to be replaced by a professional.

Files on Dj Ditty won't show up on computer..

Sounds like you need to reformat the player, but here is my Dell Ditty troubleshooter:

Dell DJ Ditty

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/P97347/om/OM.pdf - manual

http://www.dellcommunity.com/supportforums/board/message?board.id=dce_djmusic&thread.id=47830 – How to Troubleshoot the Dell DJ Ditty – from Dell

http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&ServiceTag=&SystemID=PDA_MP3_DJ_DITTY&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid= - Firmware for Ditty

Did you run the installation CD first? If you don't, Windows will load its own, possibly wrong, drivers.

Make sure you didn't accidentally press the player's lock button:
The keys on the Dell DJ Ditty have been locked.
Unlock the keys by pressing in on and holding the
Volume/Scroll/Select dial until the lock icon disappears.

Reset method - Insert the end of a thin object, such as a straightened paper clip, into the reset button (near the headphone jack).

Also make sure your operating system is Windows XP - it won't work on anything before or after.

The Musicmatch service that this player was tied to was discontinued in October 2007, so you’re going to have problems even if we get it working again.

The DJ Ditty does recognize DRM-encryption for WMA files – make sure the license is up to date, or convert the file to mp3 format if you are experiencing licensing issues.

If you are experiencing frequent freezing, or a file system/corruption error, or getting the “Warning! Reformat with Firmware Updater!” message, there are two ways to format the DJ Ditty:

Format using Windows Media Player:
Run Microsoft Windows Media Player.
Connect the DJ Ditty to the computer.
Click the Sync button on the top of the menu.
Click the "Format storage media" button on the right-hand side of the screen.
Disconnect the DJ Ditty and power it back on.

Reload or upgrade the Firmware:
Connect the DJ Ditty to the computer.
Download and install the latest firmware from http://support.dell.com
Run the firmware upgrade program with the "Format Data Area" checked.
Disconnect the DJ Ditty and power it back on.

Dell DJ Ditty

We may be in luck - I actually found an owner's manual for this one. Did you run the installation CD first? If you don't, Windows will load it's own, possibly wrong, drivers.

The Musicmatch service that this player was tied to was discontinued in October 2007, so your going to have problems even if we get it working again. Use Windows Media Player 10 instead (downgrade if you have the current version 11 installed).

Let me know how everything turns out.
