Maytag MAH4000AWW no longer does the high speed spin cycle. Other than that motor runs fine. Seems like a controller issue but don't have a repair manual to know for sure.

It could be the motor control board not telling the motor to switch to its highest speed, but it could also be control board not telling the motor control board to activate, but it could also be in the timing circuit. What other indications are you getting? Take a look at the wiring diagrams for this machine on the referenced site.

Loud Bearing Noise During Spin Cycle- MAH4000AWW

I don't know these front loaders so well but, here's a couple of things to look for.
1) If belt driven, look for the spring loaded tensioner. Once tension is released, check the pully & see if it has excessive play.
2) Check the gasket on front panel & see if drum has rubbed thru it in order to make metal to metal contact.
3) There is alot of pressure on that rear bearing...make sure it's not egg shaped or scored on the inside.

If all else fails, shotgun it (in other words, replace those moving parts you suspect:)

Maytag Neptune Front Load Washers No Spin Problem

A class suit was filed in the State of Illinois, USA and then later on won against Maytag in 2004 due to the high failure rate of the wax motor used in the door lock mechanism of their Neptune Front Load Washers. The wax motor is used to activate the door lock switch by extending its shaft when a voltage from the machine control is applied across its terminals. Its failure then leads to the breaking down of components in the expensive machine control board. This is the fact that angered the customers which led to the filing of the class suit.

The obvious symptom of a failed wax motor is the inability of the washer to advance to the spin cycle and the door lock lamp is not turned on. The washer stops momentarily at the end of the wash cycle then continue to tumble as the machine control checks the activation of the door lock switch. The control will not allow a spin speed higher than 51 revolutions per minute (RPM) unless the door lock switch is activated by the wax motor. It is a safety feature of the washer to prevent accident due to accidental opening of the washer door during a high speed spin.

Customers who purchased the Neptune Front Load Washers in the USA after April 1, 1997 and before August 9, 2004 are Class members and eligible for the repair reimbursement, replacement cost, or purchase certificate depending on the length of service of the machine. Call up Maytag at 1-888-MAYTAG (1-888-629824) for more information.

The models included in the class suit are as follows: MLE2000AYW, MLE2000AWW, MLE2000AZW, MLG2000AWW (Gas Stack Unit), MAH3000AAW, MAH3000AEW, MAH3000AGW, MAH3000AWA, MAH3000AWW, MAH3000BGW, MAH4000AWW, MAH4000BWW, MAH4000AWQ, MAH4000BWQ, MAH5500AWW, MAH5500BWW, MAH5500BWW, MAH5500BWQ, MAH55FLBWW, MAH55FLBWQ, MAH6500AWW, MAH6500AWQ, MAH7500AWW, MAH7500AWQ, MAH7550AAW, MAH7550AGW.

Maytag MHWE450 spins fine at full speed mid-cycle, for instance between wash and rinse, but will not spin after rinse or on "drain and spin" option. There are no error codes. Seems it might be...

Hello K.W. ,
Sad to sad their is no way to reset the control and yes it sounds as if has diagnosed it spot on ...since it spins on the rinse cycle the motor can be ruled out totally as the problem since its up to the control to tell the motor what to do and when to do it so if it spins sometimes and not others it seems to be the control that's not telling it to spin at the end. One thing to check though is that the filter screen perhaps is clogged since i believe it doesn't spin at high speed until after the water has drained and if the filter on the pump is built up w/debris its not going to drain fast enough so while it may not solve it,it may solve it by checking the drain filter. This tip i wrote will show ya how to check the filter on the pump.http://www1.fixya.com/support/r10121384-check_when_duet_washer_door_locked_after

If the filter is relativity clean and doesn't solve the problem the control baord would need to be replaced.

I have a LG WM0642HW washing machine. During the wash and rinse cycles the machine runs really rough and will not turn the drum over. Sometimes the machine will stop and go into the LE error. I have...

Your problem requires very skilled LG technician to check the wiring circuit from the control board to the motor and hall sensor. Very possible that the control board is bad but highly unlikely. Suspect the wiring harness with high resistance to the motor.
Good luck

Will only spin slow speed will not spin at high speed. Everything else seems to be working fine.

Make certain that your selected wash cycle designates a higher spin speed. If so, then you may have an issue with the motor or motor control board. Contact an appliance service company.

Maytag Neptune Front Load Washer Model MAH4000AWW low last spin

two problems here,
your shaft seal is running on its last leg
the sound is unmistakeable and always described the same...
the water issue, you probably have a trickle leak through the cold water valve
the mixing valve is quite an easy repair, but I would have to say with all honesty, it probably time for a new machine
the hub seal is a tub replacment call
2 hrs of labor if hes good
and the tub runs around 500.00 dollars
sory for the bad news
