If a compressor is starting first check the powercable, second search for the presence of an circuit breaker button, for power reset thirth option its the pressostat-switch control all the contacts if its only buzzing by starting replace the start capacitor. if there is power on the motor wires there can Centrifugal interruptor for the startup capacitor interrupted is rare but could last its inside the induction motor some compressors could have this.

IF POWER GOING TO COMPRESSOR AND COMPRESSOR NOT COMING ON CHECK AC COMPRESSOR REFRIGERANT FOR LOW REFRIGERANT.LOW PRESSURE SIDE SHOULD BE 22 - 36 PSI HIGH PRESSURE SIDE SHOULD BE 200 - 260 PSI. NOW IF NO POWER GOING TO AC COMPRESSOR CHECK FUSE AND RELAY.IF POWER GOING TO AC COMPRESSOR AND AC COMPRESSOR NOT TURNING ON. REFRIGERANT LEVEL OKAY AC COMPRESSOR CLUTCH COULD BE OPEN.

If the compressor came on when you were testing it with a test light, it sounds like something is wrong with your ground for your compressor, and completely the circuit through your test light.

I have driven 80K miles so far in 12 years. All of a sudden AC stopped producing cold air. All vents when turned ON only blow heat (HOT-AIR only). AUTO switch only lights up when temperature is increased...

The temp is controlled by a flap called an air door. It could be an electric motor/actuator, a vacuum control or a manual cable but the door is likely not closing all the way and allowing air to pass through the heater core. ----------
There are few possibilities needs to be checked.------ The Freon, is the Freon low.Get the AC pressure tested. The low pressure switch towards the Accumulator, should show 35 to 45 lbs and high pressure switch should show Approx 80 to 100 lbs,------- But if freon level is fine then get the Hvac module inspected. Its module problem , This is the module in the dash board that has all of the A/C control knobs and buttons in it. It is very easy to remove; only 4 screws have to come out first. This module fails or shorts and cause this problem.------ But first check the freon level, if its low then its low freon problem.Get the pressure tested, if no pressure showing then by pass low pressure switch via jumper and see if compressor runs.If yes then replace the low pressure switch. But if all checked ok, then its HVAC module.--------- This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

I would like to know where the low pressure side side is on a 2001 Dodge Caravan so I can recharge the air conditioner. Thanks

you should have 2 lines coming off of your compressor.1 of them will have a blue cap on the line .it will look like a air valve on a car tire.the cap is blue the other is red .blue being the low pressure and red is the high side.if you have no caps then crank car turn on a/c feel the line ,and if it is hot ,thats high pressure, and if it gets cold or cool thats low pressure, sorry if i confused you

Ac compressor does not come on. I checked all recommended fuses. Pressure on low side is in red (High) Thank you

Assuming something works can sometimes steer us in the wrong direction, but if the fans are working, this is either a high pressure issue or a bad coil on the compressor. Do you have a test light or volt meter? If so, we can test the compressor coil and narrow it down.

My air condition is not blowing cold air

best diagnostic method is dual head gauges. balanced pressure between low and high side in the off position is aroung 90 lbs. running low pressure is 20-40 lbs and high pressure 160-200, is the compressior not coming on? does it stay on, or click on and off. either might mean the freon level is low. try unplugging the low pressure switch on the low side supply line and shorting the pigtail wires together with a paper clip. does the compressor stay on now? if so and the air is warm or cool, freon is low. if the air is cold that switch is bad. if compressor still won't come on the list of possibilities grows longer: compressor, comp fan clutch, AC relay, restriction at several places... repair shop time...

Ac not working

1st you must check for correct refrigerant levels in ac system, must be done with a/c guages, you have a pressure switch that senses correct pressure in a/c system if you are low in refrigerant the a/c will not come on. if you have good pressures high side 70-95 low side 70-95 depends on ouitside air temperature, with the engine off then look at the switch in the high pressure line, jeep also has a fuse in the fuse box under the hood and a a/c relay please check those too. I hope this helps. (red is high side hose- small fitting plug , blue is low side- larger fitting If ac is working and compressor is on good pressure ranges from high side the red hose 160 to 230 depending on temperature outside; low side blue hose 27-46 low side depending on outside temperature, Wear glasses to protect your eyes. I hope this helps good luck

2003 Kia Sedona, A/C stopped blowing cold air without any warning

do a pressure test. You may have lost freon to the point where it will not let the compressor come on. If you do not have any gages or access to a gage, buy one of the cans of freon that has the low pressure gage attached. Make sure you get the one that has 134A with sealer. The pressure should be about 100psi not running and go down to about 60 when it is running. IF you have a slow leak and the system is low, the compressor will not come on. If you get very low or no pressure when you hook up the can, don't waste your money, have the system checked for the leak. You must vacuum the system down to 30 inches of vacuum before refilling if it is empty, and it does not good to fill it if it is just going to come back out.

Hope this helps

Air conditioning low pressure sensor

find the sensor that is plugged into the accumulator on passenger side normally it Will have two wires the dryer will be silver or aluminum colored unhook the connector put a paper clip in the connector if the compressor comes on then you have it, Warning if low on refrigerant you can damage the compressor if on for a long period of time, check to see if AC gets cold turn it on to Max AC fan full blast and see it it's cold, if it is the switch is bad, if it does not get cold then it needs to be serviced.

The air conditioning in my 2008 Buick LaCrosse does not work.

Need clarification...
Does the compressor run steady, cycle on and off continually or even come on at all? If cycles on-off then attach charge manifold/gauge set and bring freon up to proper level. If does not come on at all, then start engine, turn a/c on, remove two-wire plug from low pressure cut-out switch mounted on accumulator. Jumper the wires at plug and see if compressor comes on. If so, bring freon up to proper level.

If charge level was low then check for system leak after system charge with an electronic leak detector if available.

If compressor runs but doesn't cool vehicle then with engine running and a/c on feel (carefully) the lines. High side line should be hot (be careful) and low side line should be cold. If these are both true then it's possible non-cooling condition is due to air temp diverter door not operating or heater valve not shutting off (if so equipped). If low side not cold it could be a plugged orifice tube. If high side not hot it could be bad rings on compressor. Both conditions can be diagnosed with a/c manifold gauge set by noting the pressures.

For safety... if not familiar with differences between hi and low side components or with charge equipment then please take vehicle to qualified person for service.

Ford f250 a/c stoppes cooling when driving average speed

I think either the pressure switch that turns the AC compressor on and off is at fault or the magnetic clutch on the compressor is going open when it gets hot, when it stops working use a 12 volt test light to check if 12 volts is present at AC compressor connector, if it is'nt check the cycling switch in the low pressure line, that is the line that gets cold and is the largest size coming from the compressor, it may also be in the accumulator bottle.
