HI kissakiwi,
In the control panel's power option , you need to change the SYTEM STANDBY settings to never , and then the problem would be solved.
There are three options , turn of monitor, turn of hard disk and , system standby , if you select all of these three to 'never' then you won't have this problem.
Remember you can also change the settings via the screen saver tab when you right click and select properties on the desktop.
Let me know in case you have any queries. Hope this helps ...:)
Hi Kissakiwi,
My other suggestion would be to check the settings of your monitor , you can do this by checking the menu button on your monitor itself and search for standby settings, if you find it has been set to go in standby mode in some time , you can just change the setting and it will work for you.

Hi Sajjad,
I am sorry but that does not solve my problem. All are set to Never - when power is plugged in (which it is) on the laptop, it should never blank the monitor.
I am guessing its some kind of signal loss issue. The monitor is detecting no video - so goes into power saving mode. No idea why though. The power is fine, the VGA cable is fine.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks
