I have a Montgomery Ward water heater , the hot water is very hot & I would like to turn it down - however it does not have a knob that you see on regular water heaters to turn from hot to warm to vacation etc , there is 2 paneles that I unscrewd & did not find anything bottom port is for the pilot and the upper pannel has a red button ? any ideas

I am pretty sure that it is an electric heater , you are right regarding the two plastic covers , the top pannel when opened does have a red button that by the looks of it you depress , i am not sure if this somehow regulates the heat temratue , the hot water ins nearly scolding hot , not at a safe tempreture , I dont believe this would be a factory setting , if it was it is not now

From your question hard to tell, if its gas, the temp control should be on the gas regulator knob.
If its electric the stats are under the two metal covers and there is usually a plastic protector over the elect. connections and the adjustment knob will be thru a hole in that plastic cover. New electric heaters have a fixed factory set temp that the Gov. has set for us to keep us safe. Hope this helps.

The red button is the limit reset, turn off power and lift up the red plastic cover and there should be a adjustment screw under both thermostats, if not them Uncle Sam is making us safe. Replace them both and they are not the same you will need a upper and a lower, most replacements have wiring diagrams. Not to hard to fix.

How do I adjust the temperature level for my Montgormer Ward Water Heater SRM 3505006? Where can I find a manual on this product?

If it's electric, you'll need to remove the heating element cover for each element (top & bottom). Once they are removed you'll see a thermostat on each element. With a small, screwdriver you can adjust the temperature up or down. You must adjust each element to the same temperature.

That should solve your problems.

Sounds like your "old Montgomery Ward Space Heater" has given up the ghost. Frankly, it's time to replace it. Even under the best conditions (even with routine maintainence) they don't last forever. Continuing to try to use it, becomes a safety & health issue.

How do i light the pilot on a ward floor furnace madel 570 edr

You need a very kong wire and a kitchen match. Turn the knob on top to pilot and push down have your flame already down thru the pilot hole at the bottom of the inside of furnace. Hold for a few seconds and release knob trun to heat. This unit works on a power pile systm and generates milivolts from the flame. Rus

I believe I had the same problem with my water heater about 15 years ago. It started with a small leak, then the tank broke flooding the room. I think it would be be best to replace the unit. Water heaters tipically have a 8-10 year life.
