My Wave Radio is about 12 years old and the other day i moved it to another room and when i plugged it back in the display showed 55. It now does not display anything which means it wont turn on or anything. Any thoughts on what happened and if its fixable?

Yes...within a range. The display will automatically lighten and darken depending on the amount of light in the room. During the day or when there are bright lights in the room, the display will go to full brightness. When the lights go off or the room is otherwise darkened, the display will shift down to a lower brightness. You can make the "lower brightness" a bit brighter by holding down the CLOCK SET button and pressing the 'volume up' button.
Hi, When you change the Aux turn the radio off. Then turn it back on. As for the static move the radio to another plug or to a different room. If you have floresecent lighting it may do that too.
The cord acts like an antenna so don't bundle the cord. Good luck.
The antenna is built in. The buzz you're hearing is a 60cycle hum (electricity from a nearby appliance) Try this, put an extension cord on it and walk it around your listening room for best reception. You can also find the culprit appliance by turning items off 1 by 1 until buzz subsides.
Unfortunately, Bose will not release their schematics of parts lists, effectively giving them a monopoly on repair of these sets. On their web
site, www.bose.com, they offer to repair most Wave sets for $100 or
give $200 credit towards the purchase of a new Wave. Before you spend
the big bucks though, you might want to check out the new HD radios.
Better sound and MUCH lower prices than the Bose.
Bose does not release their parts lists or schematics, effectively
creating a monopoly for parts and repairs. In fact, their web site
says that the Bose factory is the only option for service or repair.
They used to list a flat rate repair charge on the web site, but
removed it - probably because it scared too many people. Their
troubleshooting guide (below) might help, but it's very simplistic.
Before you invest in expensive factory repair on one of these trouble
prone sets, you might want to investigate the new HD radios -- better
sound at a MUCH lower price.
My first guess would be to take a volt meter, and check the power pack to see if it's putting out the correct DC voltage(or any voltage). Those things are super cheap! Then check the plug in on the scanner to make sure your getting a good connection(might have a broken connection to the circuit board). If those are 2 year old rechargeable batteries, they might be getting close to laying down and dying. Hope this helps,, Mechanic
The display dims automatically to medium or low brightness, as appropriate for low light room conditions. You can adjust the brightness setting of the display for both strong light and lowest light environments, but not for the medium light setting. Turn the system off before setting brightness levels.
• In a strongly lit room, hold down CD Mode and press Volume up or down to adjust the setting between 5 and 9 (it is preset to 8). • In a barely lit room, hold down CD Mode and press Volume up or down to adjust the setting between 1 and 5 (it is preset to 2). • If you do not want the system to dim automatically, set both levels to 5.
