SOURCE: No 1384 firewire driver for Panasonic PV-GS300 camcorder

I found the recipe. To get my DV Camcorder to work using 1384 (Firewire) on my computer I did:

1. Get a good cable. If you paid less than $20 for it, you got the wrong one.
2. Ensure that the 1384 (firewire) port is enabled on your computer. Go into the BIOS setup and check to be sure. Mine was OFF!
3. If you get an error with Windows XP not being able to find your hardware, you need to get all the drivers. There are four or five of them along with a configuration file. Miss any one and you are dead. My solution was to reinstall Windows Service Pack 3. This took a long time, but fixed the driver problems.

Good luck!

SOURCE: My windows 7 laptop does not recognize my

You are going to have to check that your firewire is being seen by windows 7 first of all. If not you will need to rectify that.
When you do get it to recognize it, here is a link for an update to the program that came with your camcorder for it to work with Windows Vista but it should also work for Windows 7.

SOURCE: I have a Panasonic PV-GS39

This type of camera usually downloads better with a Firewire (DV) connection. Some mini-DV cameras only use the USB connection (if they have one) for stills and can only download video by Firewire. This is because you have to play the tape into the computer, not just copy a file. The way it works on my computer, the camera is controlled by the computer software.

Most PCs have a USB port, but no Firewire port. Macs often have a Firewire port but may not have USB. As most Windows PCs do not come with this interface, you might need to fit an add-on Firewire interface card. This will come with a driver for the card.

Whether this will work with Windows 7, I am not sure. My Mini-DV camera, using a Firewire cable, didn't need any camera driver loaded to the computer, just the movie editor that came with Windows XP.

Does my Panasonic PV-GS35 Mini DV Digital Camcorder have a VCR mode and how do I access it? I am trying to copy a VHS tape to mini DV and I cannot get my camera to do it.

The Panasonic PV-GS35 will let you record digital media to the mini DV cassette if the other video source has a DV input/output connection. Then you use the 4-pin to 4-pin Firewire DV cable, PV-DDC9 . This cable is available from Amazon, https://www.amazon.com/LETO-FireWire-Panasonic-Camcorder-PV-DDC9/dp/B00MLQVMSK , and other vendors. The digital camera doesn't have the S-video input needed to record from most other sources.

For information on the digital dubbing feature, see the manual starting on page 42. Panasonic has the manual on the product support page: https://shop.panasonic.com/support-only/PV-GS35.html . The current link to the manual is ftp://ftp.panasonic.com/camcorder/om/pv-gs19_en_om.pdf . See page 13 of the manual for the location of the DV port.

I hope this helps.

I need free download of driver software for Panasonic PV-DV910 palmcorder for my pc with widows 7

There are none to download. Panasonic suggests the following when the computer fails to recognize the camera:

  • After re-inserting the SD card into this unit, reconnect the supplied USB cable.
  • Select another USB terminal on the PC.
  • Connect the supplied USB cable again after restarting the PC and turning the unit on.

This type of camera usually downloads video over a Firewire (DV, IEEE1394) connection. Some mini-DV cameras have a USB connection but it is used only for stills.

As most Windows PCs do not come with this interface, you might need to fit an add-on Firewire interface card. This will come with a driver for the card. As you have a MAC, you may already have a port.

Suitable Firewire (DV) cables can easily be found on Amazon or eBay. You will need the kind with a small (four pin) connector at one end and a larger (six pin) connector at the other. My Samsung mini-DV camera came with the correct lead. I did not need a driver, just some sort of video editing software that can accept input. Even Windows Movie Maker that ships with Windows will work.

The chances are that a USB cable from your PC wont work on any windows newer than XP, you like myself will need Firewire cable from a good camera store.

I am trying to connect my camcoder with my laptop using firewire and windows movie maker does not recognize the device

Hi. You have to install the drivers for your camcorder in order to use it with your LapTop

Here are the steps in sequence to install the drivers.

1- Use the CD which came with your Camcorder to install the drivers. If you do not have the CD, Google search for your camcorder drivers download.

2- After installing the drivers, select play, connect your camcorder to your laptop and turn it on. Follow the screen and install the drivers. When it states ready, Your laptop would see your camcorder

Click start, then computer. You would see an icon with all of part of Panasonic PV-Dv910 Mini.... Double click on it, you would see one or more folders with your pictures and videos. Now you can download, copy delete them.

    Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Capture digital video using Panasonic PV-GS12 and USB

Here's what I learned. 1. Connect with FIREWIRE. It's all of under 10 bucks if you shop around. 2. Use WINDV to capture if you need to. Hint: Free. 3. Use better software than what comes with the camera.
