Promaster makes many different lenses. Some of their older lenses do not have the electronics to communicate with newer digital cameras, and you have to shoot in Manual mode. Could you tell us which lens you're asking about?
Maybe you should try to update your driver. To do this go in the start menu and type device manager. Then go in imaging devices, right click on your webcam and select "update driver software". Then select "search automatically for updated driver software".
A 52mm (in diameter) filter is attachable on this model.
Please note the following:
*1: The adaptor ring (sold separately), ZCA-300 is needed.
*2: Filters cannot be used with the wide converter.
*3: When the 8mm or thicker filter or some filters over another are attached, vignetting may appear. Test recording is recommended.
