This is the 18-55mm lens? That lens only has a "A-M" switch to go between auto and manual focus. Some lenses have an on/off switch for the Vibration Reduction (VR) feature, and some of them have another switch to turn on/off active VR.

Vibration Reduction compensates for camera movement. This lets you hand-hold the camera at slower shutter speeds. Active VR allows camera movement in one direction while compensating for movement in other directions, allowing for panning.

Can I buy an adapter to use the 28-200 mm Sigma Aspherical lens fitted to my nikon d5000 camera

That depends on the lens. Sigma makes their lenses with a variety of mounts. If the lens has a Nikon mount then you don't need an adapter at all.

Since the Nikon lens mount has a deeper flange depth than other mounts, you cannot fit a lens with another mount onto a Nikon body without losing the ability to focus to infinity. Because of this, you won't find an adapter for another mount. Adapters are available to fit Nikon lenses onto other cameras but not the other way around.

What type of lens works with this Nikon N8008s AF 35mm SLR? Thank you, Larry

Any of the Nikon Auto Focus(AF) lenses should work fine with it. There are also a number of fine aftermarket lenses made for your 8008, by Sigma, Tamron, Tokina, Quantaray and others. Be sure you get the Nikon AF lenses, as they make the same lenses for Sony and Canon. You cannot use the Lenses made for another brand, as they will not fit, work right, and can damage your Nikon.

Ottelephoto Lenses

All third-party lens makers make their lenses available with a Nikon mount.

Keep in mind that autofocus will only work if the lens has an internal focus motor.

WILL THIS MODEL JELL WELL WITH THE NIKON 50mm LENSES (NORMAL) & OTHER BRANDS OF 50mm LENSES (NORMAL) THAT IS WITH NIKON D90 DSLR

Hello,
The Nikon D90 works well with the Nikon AF 50mm lenses and most other brand Nikon fit AF lenses. If they are not AF you will lose autofocus and metering.
Do you know that on the D90 the lens becomes a 75mm but the aperture stays the same, so for instance the 50mm f/1.8 is a 75mm f/1.8.

P5100 Nikon

I have the same problem as you... Nikon acknowledges that they have this problem on other Coolpix models, see: http://home.nikon-asia.com/pagearticle.php?pageid=43-7cc915b40d

Now, how do we get Nikon to acknowledge that this is a problem on the 5100 as well?
