Try unplugging your communication cable and turn everything off. Turn everything back on and plug in the cable. If that doesn't work delete the printer from your printer list and re-install it. Usually in this type of scenario it's a communication issue.
I thought maybe you have the paper size set to Landscape rather than Portrait. If not, then you might look at:

Borderless Printing
By selecting the Borderless PrintingI have a canon mp - bullet_s.gif can make prints with no
margins.
