Fisher Paykel DS605i single dishdrawer with a user-supplied integrate panel. There are three buttons on front. The left-hand button is power button; the center button is start/pause; and the right-hand button is lock (I never use this). All worked as normal for two years, then the unit stopped in the middle of a rinse cycle for unknown reason (yesterday). The green light above the center button is blinking. Pushing the center button does nothing. Pushing the power button on the left will power down the unit. Pushing the power button again powers up the unit, whereupon the green light above the center button blinks several times, then stops. The unit appears to be in "pause" mode, but pushing to center button (immediately below the blinking light) does not cause the unit to complete the rinse cycle. Any suggestions?

Yes. Even though the F&P DS605i appears to be in "permanent state of suspended animaltion" or "permanent pause" ... when I pull the single drawer open, I hear the chirp, all of the lights on the narrow control panel that is visible inside the lid (specifically, "Heavy", "Normal", "Fast", "Delicate", :"Rinse" and "Eco") do light up. And I can toggle from one setting to the next by pressing the arrow button that is located immediately to the left of the word "Heavy". The "Eco" light also goes on and off when I press that button on the extreme right (on the panel inside the lid).

You ask: "How many times is [the green light on the front immediately above the "start/pause" button" on the front exterior of the unit) blinking?

The answer: "The little green light blinks fourteen times, then it stops blinking."

I tried your suggestion (to cut the power to the unit by means of the circuit breaker) for five minutes or more. I cut the power by 45 minutes. But when I resumed power to the unit (by means of the circuit breaker, as soon as I flipped the circuit breaker switch to the "on" position, I heard the F&P DS605i emit its friendly chirp ... followed by fourteen blinks of the little green light on the front .. followed by nothing (no more blinking lights). And If I press the "Power on-off" button located on the outside of the unit, to the left of the center "start/pause" button, the little green light above the "start/pause" button blinks fourteen time, then ... stops. Silence.

The lid on this unit has never been stuck, and it's difficult (impossible) to open the lid during a wash or rinse cycle (the lid is locked shut when operating), so not one attempted to open the lid by force.

I do beliieve the lid is closing fully con completely. There are two spring-loaded plastic gizmos inside the unit, situated at the back of the rails that support the washer tub ... and these spring-mounted plastic gizmos appear to function in a manner that firmly "pulls" the lid closed when the lid is very nearly closed. These spring-loaded plastic gizmos appear to be working as usual. I don't think the problem is that "the machine thinks the lid is open".

Here is one detail that may be meaningful. The large "start/pause" button in the center of the three-button array on the front has no "forward travel" when the button is pressed. The "power on/off" button to the left and the "lock" button to the right DO have forward travel .... but the center "start/pause" button has no forward travel .... which does suggest that the machine thinks it is still in the midst of a wash or rinse cycle.

I could (carefully) remove the user-supplied front panel from the front of the unit and investigate the main logic Board (or whatever "brains" exist behind that front panel which directs the unit to do the various wash and rinse cycles. Do you recommend that course of action? Any suggestions?

I wrote a detailed response to allbrands query, the I clicked "Submit", but my detailed response to allbrands is not visible on the website. Did allbrands receive my response?

  • Anonymous Jun 30, 2011

Sadly my very detailed response to allbrands, typed into the fixya.com website today, was not preserved by fixya.com after I clicked the "submit" button.

So I will type my detailed response to allbrands one more time, and hope that fixya.com accepts my response when I click the "submit" button.

Allbrands asks: "Are any of the cycle lights lighting up like rinse and normal..."

Yes. When I pull open the lid on the F&P DS605i, I hear the familiar chirp, and I see a narrow control panel, and on that control panel the red lights for the settings called "Heavy" and "Normal" and "Fast" and "Delicate" and "Rinse" and "Eco" do light up.. And I can toggle from setting to setting by pressing the arrow button located to the left of "Heavy" on the control panel inside the lid. Each time I press the arrow button, the light advances to the next setting, and I hear a beep, as normal.

    Allbrands asks: "... and
is the light on front blinking and pausing if so how many times is it
    blinking?"

    The front of the
F&P DS605i has a three-button array. The green light above the central "start/pause" button blinks 14 times, then stops. When I press the "power/on" button to the left of the "start/pause" button, I hear the familiar chirp and watch the green light above the "start/pause? button blink 14 times, then stop. Followed by silence.

Allbrands recommends: "Try turning the power off too the unit for five minutes and
back on, because if the lid was open some or was stuck it can stop the
    unit from running."

I turned off the power, by means of the circuit breaker, for 45 minutes. And when I turned the power back on, wen I flipped the switch on the circuit breaker, I heard the
F&P DS605i emit the familiar chirp, and the green light above the "start/pause" button on the front of the unit blinked 14 times, then stopped blinking. Followed by silence.

No one tried to open the lid when the unit was last working. The lid it locked shut when the unit is washing or rinsing. And I to not beleive my unit is experiencing the "dishwasher thinks the lid is open" problem, because the lid on my unit does close tight, and when the lid is being closed, two spring-loaded plastic gizmos (which are mounted on the rails the support the wash tub inside the unit) to appear to be doing their job. They pull the lid inward securely.

The water pipes that are connected to the
F&P DS605i are working, as normal. So I don't think the unit shut off for lack of water. And there was not an unsual amount of water inside the unit when it went kaput. There does not seem to be any blockage inside the unit.

I CAN REMOVE the user-supplied front panel and inspect the circuitboard that serves as the "brains" of the
F&P DS605i ... do you suggest I do that? And if I do that, what should I look for?

HERE IS ANOTHER DETAIL that might help diagnose the problem. I notice something in the three button array on the front of the unit: the left-hand button ("Power on/off") and the right hand button ("Lock") do have forward travel, which means I can push inward and something happens when I push those buttons; but when I push the central "start/pause" button, there is no forward travel. Nothing happens when I push the central button, which I would expect when the unit is in the midst of a wash or rinse cycle. Does that tell you anything?

I hope fixya.com accepts this response when I click the "submit button...

I am still waiting for a response from fixya.com expert allbrands. Meanwhile, I telephoned fisherpaykelparts.net, and after a brief conversation, I realized that my three-button badge on the front of my two-year-old F&P DS605i is probably faulty. I ordered a new three button badge from fisher & paykel at a cost of $48.58 plus $10 to ship the small two-ounce part to me by UPS ground, plus sales tax.

Can you please tell me how to reset the machine after the F^ code appears and I have fixed the flooding problem it is model DW60CE

The dishwasher should reset when the power is turned back on. Make sure the water is turned on also. Sometimes pressing the keylock button and holding for 4 or 5 seconds will allow you to continue. What is the actual F code you are seeing?

What does error F1 mean and is it expensive to fix

Hello there
The f-1 error is comng from the fflood switch meaning it is not recognizng the level of the water in the machine
First thing you need to do is pull the front panel off the drawer, :
Fisher Paykel DD602 dishdrawer with the front panel removed.
With that front panel off, pull the wire harness connectors off the main control board (lower right-hand side) to inspect for junk and debris
If nothing is found
The next step to remove the botton drawer from the unit so so you can inspect the switch itself
In order to do this, You had to remove the wire harness cover on the underside of the drawer.
batch%2010-23-04%200041.jpg
Fisher Paykel DD602 dishdrawer, looking at the underside of one of the drawers with the wire cover plate removed.
With the bottom cover off, unclip the wire harness, fill hose, and drain hose. Then unclip the linkage at the back of the drawer and lifted the drawer off the slider arms. All this to expose the flood switch, shown on the left-hand side of the bottom panel in the picture below:.
batch%2010-23-04%200051.jpg
Fisher Paykel DD602 dishdrawer with the lower drawer removed. The flood switch in mounted on the base, left hand side.
TAKE NOTE OF the positions of the wires on the flood switch and removing them, unclip the switch housing from the base panel. The switch housing contains one switch for each drawer. The switches are wired normally closed (NC) and each switch has three spade connections, so it's important to note where the wires went. With the switch housing out, ohm out both switches and ENSURE THEY CHECK OUT GOOD OR HAVE SOMEBODY DO THIS FOR YOU inspect the contacts and SEE IF they look oxidized or detereorated , evidenced by discoloration.
If it does look discolored clean the contacts as needed now plug in everything as it was originally and put in the drawers than run it to see if it does reappear if not you saved yourself about $300 dollars on having a tech come and do this ok

F1 fault shows flood switch activated, how to

Hello there
This is how i did mine

and clean off the contacts. That'll restore the current flow for that circuit. ." So I cleaned the contacts and reassembled the dishdrawer. I ran the top drawer and...no F1 error code! I ran it several more times just to be sure.

The backlight on Fisher and Paykel DD603SS has gone out

There is some reason the LCD needs to be reset. Un plug the cord. Remove the front panel, on the top right you will see the small circuit board. On the right of the circuit board there are a few connectors. Disconnect them all and leave for 30 minutes. Put it back then plug in the cord. It will work again. If not then it needs to be replaced. Unplug alone the cord didn't work for mine. Good luck

Fisher and Paykel dishdrawer, lid not retracting, no power.

By no power you may be implying there is no display etc and the swithces are not working. Most likely the controller of the top drawer has had it. The controller is mounted on the front of the drawer behind the door panel. Hope things are better than that.
