I have a Toshiba laptop that I bought recently (about 8 months ago) and it has started to have problems. While working, the screen will go completely white. If I hit the power button to put it to sleep and then turn it on again it will show me my login screen normally, however once I login it will go back to white when it takes me back to my desktop. I've noticed that this happens most often when watching videos(especially if i try to go to full screen) or if I'm on a web page that has a very dark background and if I hit Alt+F4 before trying to log back in it sometimes helps the problem. When it doesn't help a complete restart usually does the trick. It happens frequently and sometimes for no apparent reason.
I don't think it's a hardware issue b/c it always shows the login screen but will go white afterwards. I've tried downloading the graphics drivers over and over but nothing seems to help. Any Ideas

It may be a driver. Go to: http://support.toshiba.com/drivers
and input your model or serial number. The applicable drivers will be displayed for your laptop.
Nah - not much you can do. The keyboard's gone bad. Most new Toshiba laptops have a year's warranty, so you should call them and have them replace it for free.
You can try booting a live linux CD or thumbdrive and see if that gives you sound. That will give you an idea if it's Windows or a hardware problem. If it's a windows problem try uninstalling and reinstalling your drivers. If that doesn't work keep searching around or just try a fresh install of windows.
See if you can plug in and external monitor and boot from scratch if the external scren comes on then the LCD on the laptop has had it. Ring Toshiba to get it fixed as its in Warrenty.
The same thing happened on my HP. I ended up buying a LCD screen off ebay. That corrected the problem. New screens cost $150+. You can get one off ebay for half the price.
I bought a Toshiba 215 on Jan. 11th. After about 2 weeks of having it, it started doing the same exact thing. I took it back on Feb. 8th to Best Buy. The Geek Squad had it for a few days and said my optical drive was bad and that I could replace it because it had been less than 30 days. I've had my laptop now for 4 days and the thing just shut off AGAIN!!!! I seriously think this is definately a Toshiba Laptop problem as I've been reading tonight and have found many people with this same problem!
