SOURCE: turning my printer from offline to online

Check your printer connections.
Go to printer folder and clean all pending jobs.
Turn off your printer
Turn off your computer
Turn on your computer
Turn on yor printer

Check the status fo the printer must be "ready" (at the printer folder)
If not replace the printer cable.
Is still the problem remain, uninstall an reinstall the printer.

Is this the initial install? If so do this.. I finally figured this out. Do the "cable" install. After it discovers the printer etc you will get to a screen during the driver part of the install that will ask you how to find the printer. The "recommended" list method is a deadend!  Instead, check the IP address option and input that.. You can get the IP address of the printer from the test page which should have already printed.(Its probably 192.168.2.3).  I run   XP and it solved the problem. I suspect its also the answer for Macs and Vista as well.
I have also had success by doing the "cable" install, then when its done, deleting the printer in Printers and Faxes, then doing a manual install (you still need the IP address).  I am using two computers to go to this printer and it flies. Great speed.

Do you mean it says "offline" under the printer icon in your PC's printer dialog box?
Right click it , then select "use printer online".

How to turn printer from offline to online

Often times the printer will show being offline if the computer wasn't turned on before the printer. Also, if you have more than one printer be sure the printer you are trying to use is selected in the printer setup page.

Go to Printer in the menu bar of the pop-up window and uncheck "Use Printer Offline." This action will change the printer from offline to online.
Open the Start menu and click on the "Printers and Faxes" icon. This will open a window with a list of the printers currently set up on your computer.

There's a small chance this might be your fix.

In Windows, open the printer queue and make sure the "Work Offline" item is NOT checked. It's not always smart enough to go back online automatically.
