Hi there, I have a Safeguard TK40 safe. I changed the battery not realising it would alter the code, however I am now unable to get in to my safe. Yeah, now realise I shouldn't have closed the door!
I know how to change the password but this doesn't seem to work; 6xzeros followed by the passcode, followed by the passcode twice, then reset new password.
Is anyone able to help? Many thanks in advance, Ian

Disconnect the battery pack or the DC power plug on the back of the camcorder if the LCD screen displays error code "01," "02" or "06." This resets the camcorder and unlocks the unit from safe mode. Wait 10 minutes before reconnecting power.
the user manual will have the default code to open the safe and the instructions on hoe to set what you want as a code
read the bit where it says --do not put the keys in the safe after setting and before closing the door
if the screen keeps showing e06 device is in safeguard mode """"please remove or reattach the battery""""" If the error continues, please understand that it is a FAULTY BATTERY. This error is very common and results when the battery life has been changed or altered due to time elapsing. There is not a lot that can be done except to request a new battery. I performed more research on this and found that an equivilent may be purchased directly from jvc.com for a fraction of the costs then replacing the entire unit.
"JVC notes that you are also given a malfunction code when the unit is placed into safeguard. If it displays code 01, 02, or 06 you should remove the battery and powersupply and wait for a while. Code 03 and 04 indicate that you should eject and reinsert the tape.
If neither of these solutions work, your only alternative is to bring it to a shop or send it to JVC for diagnosis or repair. Unfortunately, there is no other way to clear the condition."
If you are getting E03 or E04 errors on every tape you try, it sounds like a servicing is required.

According to this, E04 denotes a problem with the recording media or the mechanical bits that deal with the tape. Hopefully trying another tape helps.
You mix te info with Write protected tapes.
Safe guard mode is caused by the motor that takes the tape out of it's case, through the mechanics and past the video head.
If for some reason the electronics detect that it's been done by too much force, the safe guard issue promts.
