How many hours on the projector lamp? It is possible that it just reached the end of it's life. Most lamps have a life of somewhere between 4000 to 6000 hours of life. If your TV has PIP, try going to that mode. If you can see a picture in any of the PIP modes the lamp is OK. If that works, then it is probably a hardware issue on the video board. A service tech will have to diagnose your issue. Let us know the outcome and good luck.
There really is no way of finding the hours on the set unless you are the original owner, even then, it's a guesstimation. This set is probably very close to the end of it's life span, these sets came out about 8 years ago. Generally, the CRT/RPTV's have about a ten year life expectancy. Several possibilities exist, and only a quality repair shop should attempt to diagnose the problem. But honestly, it might be more trouble, and money, than it's worth. With the price of the new technology TVs coming down in price over the last year or two, it might be a better investment than another $300 to $600 in repairs on a set that most likely will have more issues in the future.
Sorry I couldn't be of more assistance to ya.
Good luck with your decision.

I don't know how many hours are on the TV...
How would I find that out I bought this TV 2 or 3 yrs ago from a friend I had to have it fixed just this past yr due to the double vision screen.....
I have nothing when trying to bring up PIP...
power comes on but screen is black no picture no sound - pip menu nothing changes the screen it just powers on and powers off when you press the power button on tv or remote -however the tv is making a noise sort of like a skipping disc or a record that has played to its end.
No pix-no sound-bought TV in 2000; had repair for same issue in 2001, 2005 and again in July 2008; now same problem again. I'm sure it has lots of hours on it and we've spent about $900 trying to keep it running. I think from what I've read here-it's time to replace it!!!
