Any time I've seen this error appear when playing a game it is caused by a bad graphics driver. I would suggest going to the website of the retailer that your graphics devices comes from and updating to the most recent driver and giving it a shot.
Many different things can cause buffer overruns. This is a common attack that hackers use to exploit bad C code. In this case, since it's a video game...I'm going to say graphics driver.
