I don't think it is posible to fix this problem. The region code is like the one they put on DVD's to stop piracy. So if i bought the UMD in America I couln't play it on a PSP bought in Asia.Hope this helps.
check for the region code that you will see on the manufacturer's box of your PSP. facing the front of the box, the region code is located on the left side of the psp box, inside of square icon that has a globe icon with a number at top of it. if you were able to see the code, the region code must match the same code that you will see at the back of the UMD case label.
yes, try changing region to region 1 as it is possible the umd (disk you bought) is designed not to run unless the region matches. you'll probably have to change it again if you want to read disks from different regions.
my kids have the psps on their holidays at the moment back tomorrow, i will check the restore menus tomorrow for you and see if there is any other changes possibley needed,
also it is worth a try but try changing xmd to umd disk ( eventhough this is for access to memeory usually for usb connection, although it could be something to do with ver 3.71) note youl have to change it back to enter usb mode from your computer.
is yours the PSP slim version or standard version, ?
check first that you are using version 3.71 which i image you are if you bought in asia ( main menu system information)
regardles of wheter you are on this version or not i'm damm sure is not a sony release of the firmware you bough in asia :-)
shut down PSP hold power button 4 - 10 seconds or until light goes out.
restart PSP holding down R button to access recovery mode.
go to configuration,
check fake regioon currently disabled. and free umd region currently dissabled ( use x button to enter sub menus and toggle possible options)
same message when i try to play a movie
