You can now get up to 2.0 Gigs (that's 2048MB) of storage on a MiniSD card and all you would need is a SD Adaptor. The following site has MiniSD cards that are 1.0Gig (1024MB) or 2.0Gig (2048MB) and they come with FREE adaptors!

As technology increases so will the story size. They are talking about making MiniSD cards that are up in the 5.0gig (5120MB) area. Enjoy!
The question is what's the biggest memory card you can use in the Optio 30. This solution is talking about how big memory cards can get, it's missing the point & therefore poor. I bought a 4Gig SD card for my Optio 30 and it's giving problems. I have a 512MB card which works fine, is this the limit?

That depends on the make and model of the camera.
SD cards max out at 2GB. If your camera can take SDHC cards as well, you can go to 32GB. If your camera also can take SDXC cards, you can potentially go to 4TB, though no one actually makes SDXC cards that big yet.
The A520 uses SD cards. SD cards max out at 2GB in size. A microSD card in an adapter looks exactly like a SD card to the camera, and microSD cards also max out at 2GB. Anything larger is a SDHC or microSDHC card. While they will fit into the slot, they are electronically incompatible and will not work. So, the short answer is: 2GB.
The maximum size of SD cards you can use is 2GB since SD cards max out there. SDHC cards max out at 32GB. The camera itself does not impose any limits on those two types. In short, you can use any SD/SDHC card.
The A10 accepts SD cards, which max out at 2Gb. The 4Gb card is actually an SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) card, not an SD card, and thus will not work in devices designed for SD cards. Compatibility goes only one way--SD cards will work in SDHC devices but not the other way around.
You'd better find some local dealer and try. Newer SD cards use the new SDHC profile which is not supported by the camera. 1G and smaller cards should have no problem but even this largely depends on toshiba's programming ability. 4G and above probably would not work.
The maximum supported size is most likely 2GB SD Card. Cards with 4GB and more are following a new (incompatible) standard called SDHC (SD High Capacity), SDHC cards work only in devices specifically supporting SDHC. The Optio S5N uses the old SD standard where 2GB are the maximum size.
In my opinion there is no any limitation. I am pretty sure that you can use 1GB SD Card without any problems. Only thing that can happen is that access to your data can be a little bit slower.
Don't own the camera - but the figures indicate the 512 should hold a max of 250. Please have a look at the following:
