I depress the clutch on my 89 ford f-250 and it stays down on the floor like something fell off. I had a neighbor fix it once and he said it was a plastic problem taken care of and it fell offf a couple of miles driving and fell off in the yard when i got home. Help!

Sounds as though your not familiar with what your
looking at & there is no way anyone on the internet
can see the problem

Your neighbor fixed nothing, as you found out

Wouldn't you go to a repair shop, if you intend
to even use the truck ever again

Clutch problems

I had an '89, clutch was hydraulic. Until you can figure this out, you may be able to bypass the clutch safety switch to get the truck started. A Haynes book will tell you how to put it back together, but if something fell out all by it's own, something's broke.

It's probably your throw out bearing. you need to remove the transmission to replace it and might as well replace the clutch and slave cylinder while you are at it. $250 to DIY or $500-700 for a shop to do it...

No release? If clutch is new it should not be the problem, "unless" you got a bad one from the factory. Happens you know and the springs must work for the clutch to release. You may have not place the arm in the socket right for it to travel up and down the shaft engaging and disengaging the clutch. That happened to me one time.

My clutch pedal went to the floor when i started my car without depressing it. I have fluid in my resivor.

Hi,
Beings as the pedal fell to the floor without you depressing it,after the motor started, I would get a flashlight and look for the clutch linkage ,from the inside to the master ,then to the slave cylinder. The linkage may have come disconnected somewhere. Good Luck !!!!!!!!!

these are very hard to bleed, also check your fire wall for damage where the clutch master bolts up. another thing is take a good look at the clutch pedal asm, the frame sometimes wears and cracks so you loose a little pedal travel.another thing is a bad preasure plate, spring breaks on plate,

I have a 96 sunfire & the clutch when depressed stayed depressed down to the floor! Do I have cheap options to fix it or what??

See if the pedal, itself isn't sticking. Next, see if your pedal operates a cable, linkage, or if it is hydraulic and uses a brake line.
(It sounds like a cable is broken)

Clutch pedal stays on floor when released

check the helper spring on the clutch pedal. You'll have to get down in the driver's footwell and using a flashlight look at the mechanism while you push the pedal down (and pull up). If the spring isn't missing or broken and everything looks okay, then change the clutch master cylinder. The piston in the cylinder is probably binding due to corrosion in the bore. I have an 1986 and had the same problem. Changing the clutch master cylinder fixed it.
