Video camera classes

Do you know if there is any short classes on how to use your video recorder in melb? I have had this "canon uc-v100 with image stabilizer 72x digital zoom" for 10 years and almost new as i have hardly use it. I have taken shots but don't even know how to view it on tv or pc. Just have been too busy with other things and now I am getting interested into working on this video cam.
Thanks gemma

What the problem looks like The problem can take any of several forms, but all involve severe color shifts and/or severe distortions of the image. The images below show two examples (courtesy of Konica Minolta) of what the problem might look like, if your camera falls prey to it. In the early stages of the problem, the camera may still capture recognizable images, but with a washed-out appearance and a strong magenta or green tint. What products may be affected? Quite a number of products may develop this problem, including digital cameras, camcorders, and even PDAs (Personal Digital Assistants) that incorporate an image sensor. The following is a list of affected models by various manufacturers that we are presently aware of. We will update this list as new information becomes available. We recommend that you check the site regularly for this and other breaking news.

You can connect your Canon analog camera to your PC with the "cinch or S-Video" cables that came with it when it was new. Your Digital PC will have to have a compatible video card for the above mentioned connections. You can upgrade your Graphics Card if your PC's isn't compatible.

This is a registry error. Try this: type regsvr32 quartz.dll in the run box on your computer. That would be: Click start, run, and then type this into the box.
If yoou do this correctly, you should see a message that it was registered correctly.
Try the program to see if it fixed the issue.

Using a Document Camera in the class room

There are times in a classroom when using a regular projector or transparency projector just aren't the right tools for the job. In these cases you might consider using a document camera to project a paper on to a screen. The main benefit for this method of presentation is when you are presenting something that you will be drawing on, but there are also other benefits that it can be used for.

There are many features on document cameras that many beginning users don't know about or take advantage of. Taking advantage of the features can make you a better presenter and a better teacher.

Document cameras are able to be used as a live camera. If you have students making a lot of presentations and if your document camera has a swivel head you can use it to project the student on to the board. This will make it easier for students in the back of the room to see the presenting student.

Using the document camera as a live camera can have more benefits than just projecting on the screen. Most document cameras have the ability to capture images, this can be useful for documenting a students progress and projects. It can also be used to show parents how their child is doing in school at parent teacher conferences.

Some students I have found have a fear of presenting and prefer to record themselves and play the video to the class. With the document camera you can record the students presentation and then play it back in class.

It is unavoidable that occasionally students will miss classes and it can be very difficult for them to catch back up especially in math and science courses. Using a document camera you can record your lessons and create short videos that explain concepts just as it was presented in class. These videos can be useful in catching up students because they will see the video just as if they had been in class.

A side from helping students to success in class document cameras can be used to engage students in class. In social studies a blank map can be placed under the camera and projected on a white board, students can be called up to write on the board. The same can be done by projecting lined paper so they can write straight, or the math equations to be answered on the board.

Using a document camera in a classroom the options are endless. There are hundreds of things that can be done and there are always more to be discovered.

My Canon PowerShot SX230 HS cuts off after 10-14 seconds of recording. A yellow exclamation mark appears and shuts the video off. A green light flashes and says the word busy at the bottom of the screen....

There may be other causes for your experience but I am thinking of two and these are:
  1. The memory card - video recording is best achieved with a card of Class 4 or higher. Anything less will pose problems.
  2. Settings on camera auto-timeout - check to make sure the auto-time out is set to default.

I own a Canon EOS Rebel XTi. This camera is unpredictable; i.e., I never know when it will decide not to record an image. I have reset it many times to the manufacturer's default settings, and then it...

Okay at least the memory card isn't locked or it wouldn't be taking any pictures. Couple things one is did your format the memory card before using it? Do you format the memory card after downloading pictures to the computer? Do you just unplug the USB cable or remove the memory card from a card reader before doing a safe disconnect? What I believe is that you delete and delete and delete pictures from the card and it's not corrupted with a lot of useless data residue. Short answer to your problem is format the memory card in the camera you intend to use it in. Have a great day

Can an old film sigma uc zoom 70-210mm lens work on canon digital cameras

In short, no. Not without an expensive adapter which includes a corrective lens (which also reduces the optical quality). Even then, the lens will be fully manual only and might only be operable at the widest aperture setting.

If your Canon uses the APS-C sized sensor (all except a few highly expensive professional full-frame models do) then the 70-210 lens will produce a cropped image as if you were using a 112-336mm lens, so it may also be less useful to you.

Video only recording for very short periods, using high quality fully charged batteries

I don't know what camera you have but, as a general rule, to record video for as long as you want, you need to use a class 6 card.
