Question about Panasonic Lumix DMC-F1S / DMC-F1K Digital Camera
My camera's LCD screen goes black every so often. Is there something wrong with the camera?
No. All Lumix® Digital Cameras have a built-in feature to conserve battery power. After a certain amount of inactivity, the LCD will power down to preserve the battery. Simply hit the SHTR button, and the LCD will turn ON.

SOURCE: My camera's LCD screen goes black every so often. What is wrong?
Mine went black to, in the light of another lamp I noticed that the display worked but the backlight was bad. As some one else on this forum wrote it was the thin flat cable from the camera to the backlight led that was broken. Hardly surprising since Panasonic in the attempt to make this 90 degree angeled simply folded the otherwise straight flat cable it was doomed to crack sometime. I will get a magnifying glas and a smaller soldering iron tomorrow and try to repair it with small cables. I have already confirmed that the led where fine just by temporarily holding the broken cables together with my fingertips.
