The drain pipe may be partially clogged with lint. The old washer pump may have been a little weaker and didn't fill the pipe so fast.

Maybe someone can use an awger on the drain ptpe ...have to clean down to the J trap at the floor.

Hope this helps

The drain pipe opening at the top should be higher than the water level in the washer.

Can only run washer on small load, anything bigger, water just runs out drain.Small loads are killing us,its an extra load, top washer

Check the position of your drain hose in the pipe or sink. It's probably too low relative to the washer tub fill level. You need to make sure that the end of the hose is higher than the maximum fill level of the washer tub. (The pump in the washer can push the water up to 3-5' higher than the washer. So if you have the hose connecting to a drain pipe, it should be at least 3 1/2-4' high if the washer is on the floor. If you have your drain hose directed to flow into a sink, you may need to raise the sink or put a pipe into the sink to raise the drain hose. If you add a drain pipe, you'll need to make sure it won't shift when the washer pumps out the water.)

I hope this helps.

Clothes Washer won't stop filling with water?

If your washer continues to fill with water and does not overflow onto the floor where is that water going???

The water is siphoning from the machine as fast or faster than it it filling. This is caused by one of two situations both have to do with how the drain hose is routed.

The most common is that the drain is too low. The drain for your washer must first rise above the height of the tub or highest water level before it enters the house drain or drainage sink. This height is typically a minimum of 30". So if you are trying to drain the washer into a low pipe, a short sink or down hill you must first raise the hose or piping to that 30" before it heads down hill.

Second cause is where the drain hose is pushed too far into the house drain. A typical drain pipe in the home has a water trap at the bottom. If you put your washer drain hose down into the pipe too far and contact the water in that trap you will also siphon the water from the machine. The drain hose should hook and be secured to the drain pipe and go inside about 6", that's all that is needed.

Have any modifications been made to drain? If drain hose is too low or too far down in pipe or installed airtight, it can act as a siphon draining as fast as it fills.

Washer works fine until it starts filling on the rinse cycle, then the water just flows out of the drain. Last night the water was running for 3 hours, before I realized it. The tub fills fine when it is...

Make sure the drain hose is not sealed to the drain pipe, and that the hose is not shoved into the drain allowing the end of the hose to reach the trap. That will prevent the machine from syphoning out the rinse water as it fills.

Code f 20 what does that mean

First, make sure that both hot and cold water valves are turned on.

The F20 error code is indicating that the water level switch is not detecting a change in the water level while filling. You mentioned that you raised the drain hose so that it's only 3-4 down inside the drain pipe. If the stand pipe is too low it still could siphon out. Watch the end of the drain hose while it's filling with water to see if water is gravity draining out while it is filling.

If the washer is filling with water and you see no water draining out the hose while it's filling most likely it would be a stuck water level pressure switch or the water flow meter.

One very slim chance is that the waste water hose does not have an air break in it

The pipe is supposed to be placed into a drain which allows a flow of air to the pipe out of which the water is being pumped

If there is not an air break then the mchine can set up a syphon action which will not allow the unit to fill to the right levels

Quick check is to dump the oulet hose into a sink and run the machine , be sure to secure the pipe in case it slips out and also that the sink can empty fast enough for the water being pumped into it by the washer .

If you are saying that the machine wont stop filling try turning the water off at the fawcet

My drain pipe for my washer doesn't drain the water fast enough.

No, but you can try snaking the drain or use something stonger like muratic or sulfuric acid. You may also want to check the venting on this drain.

Washer won't fill up

The problem is most likely your drain. If there is no air break at the drain,( a gap where the hose goes into the pipe so air can enter) Your water will siphon out of the machine. Also make sure your drain pipe is higher than the tub of your washer and you only want about 6 inches of the drain hose sticking into the pipe. If you have water coming back out of the pipe when the machine drains, you will need a plumber to clean the pipes or replumb the drain. New washers pump out faster than older ones did and they need a good drain to handle the flow.

Wash Machine Drainage problem

i am a recently retired appliance engineer of 20 years, slowing down the flow of water from any electrical washing appliances can be dangerous and will cause extensive damage to the appliance in question, at the very least it will stop half way through the cycle every time the only way to remedy this is to rectify the drain, or at least sort out another waste water outlet sorry
