how was the name reset and by who??????
if you mean you have to reset your router to the factory default settings
(note all settings will be lost you will need to reconfigure the router)
you will need to reset the device to factory defaults. However, once the device is reset to factory defaults, depending on your router) to reconfigure your router settings or if there is a small hole in the front or back of the router push a hair pin in to reset to factory settings

I for the password to my wireless router, how do I obtain another one to access it?

You may need to reset your router to its Factory Default settings. Which will reset the router Username and password to "admin" without quotes.
To reset the router you need to take a thin pin or a pen tip and check the back side of the router for a button named reset. You need to push the button inside to reset it.
Hope this helps. Good Luck.

I forget my password and my user name

By default, the password is "admin" without quotes. Leave the username field blank.

If that does not work, you may have to resort to resetting it back to default settings. Do this by finding a paperclip or pin, and pressing the reset button in the back.

The only way to get in to the router without password is to reset it to factory reset. RESET will bring all the settings back to what it was when you got it out of the box. Any custom settings will be lost and you will need to input them back in to settings (like your wireless network name or SSID, password and any open ports). Reset is done by pushing is little reset button (little round hole) that is usually on the back of the router and most times it says reset or it is different color than color of the router. You can use a pen or little screw driver but make sure not to press too had so you don't damage it. Router needs to be on and then when you push in the reset you need to hold it in for 30 seconds (make sure it is 30 per clock not just your count to make sure it worked). Once time is up just remove the pen or what ever you used and you can now log in to your router with default user name and password. This is probably on the paperwork you got with the router. If you don't have it just Google your model and most times you can find it there. If not you might have to call support and just ask them. Hope this helps.

connect an ethernet cable to your router from pc. open IE, type 192.168.0.1 , it will ask for a user name and password, once you enter your user name and password, it will pull up the DLINK software, GUI. where you can go to wireless settings and change it to secured network. if you dont know your username and password, follow this steps:
Step 1 With the unit on, place a paper clip into the hole on the back on the unit labeled Reset.

reset.gif

Step 2 Hold paper clip down for 10 seconds and release.

Note: Do not repower unit during this procedure.

Step 3 The unit will reboot on its own. Once the WLAN light stops blinking, the unit is reset.

Resetting the router does not reset the firmware to an earlier version. It will change all settings back to factory defaults.

Note: The factory defaults username is admin
, and there is no password.

My wireless router doesnt connect to a wireless netowork. I played with the security settings and now i dont know what they originaly were and i forgot my password and login. please help

You will need to "hard reset" your router. This will put it to the default factory settings.

Hold the reset button in for 30 seconds. You will then need to log on the router through the admin website:

192.168.1.1 and the login/password will be admin/admin and you'll be able to change your settings.

In regards to your first statement, the wireless router creates the wireless network. It connects to the Internet through the cable modem (or dsl) and provides an access point for wireless devices.

I need help resetting user name and password

Using your browser, enter http://192.168.0.1 to access the D-Link router management. It may ask for a username and password. If so, use admin in both boxes.

From there, look for the box containing the SSID. It will look familiar as it’s the name you gave the router when you first set it up. That is where you change it.

Next, look in the Security section for the passphrase and you can change it here.

Undoubtedly, it's asking for the administrator information. User name is admin and password is admin. The link will show you the default settings for the router should you have to reset it.
