only resolution matters, set that to.
1280 x 1024 at 75 Hz (60 to 75Hz)
test the monitor on 2 PC, if its bad its bad. end story.
surely you have access to 2 PC, the bad PC and one known to be good. and DO not set resolution above the above.

If the monitor is connected to a DVI output on your computer try to connect it to the VGA to see if it's an issue with the input or if the monitor is shot. It sounds like your monitor just crapped out.
could be a connection problem with power in wiring. bent or damaged wires or connections of those inside monitor. or it could be getting hot? number of things. monitors are farely cheap now days. might be time to update?
Never a good idea to clean with any spray cleaner. The cleaner does get down in the button bar and cause corrosion and shorting along ribbon cable. Use screen wipes for computer monitors only on TV's and any type of monitors. You can remove the back of the case. And remove the button board and clean with a cue tip and alcohol along ribbon cable.
