Optoma H30 Projector: color banding

Hi! Thanks in advance for reading and any help you can provide!

I have a 2 year old Optoma H30 projector. The bulb is 8 months old, about 1000 hours on it. After the bulb was installed, it would run great for an hour, after which I would start to see color banding (looks like 8 or 16 bit color vs 32 bit). The faces in videos also start to go pink.

Now the color banding starts happening after 15 minutes, rendering the projector mostly useless for movies.

I have carefully removed (forced air) all the dust I can. I've used Qtips to swab out any residual dust. I've done this twice in the last 3 months. I've also reset the settings to factory default. I've changed the brightness and color settings. I've also checked ALL the cables (component, RBG, S-video) and all of them exhibit color banding.

Any suggestions would really be appreciated! If it works, I'll owe you two dozen cookies. :0)

Most DLP projectors have a colour wheel. It's usually hard to get at, and you may have to actually remove everything including the optical block from the projector to access it. This wheel turns on a motor just like a fan, and if it gets dirty it can act up just like a fan.

They are expensive to replace, so you might want to try taking it apart and cleaning it out. Add a small amount of 3 in 1 oil to the motor if you can.

OPTOMA ts725 xga PROJECTOR a light & dark scrolling shadow lines

It sound like either the connection IS bad or the projector is bad. Try taking the projector back for another, it may be defective. Other wise it sound like the bulb is burning out but not likely after only 2 weeks.

Optoma HD65 bulb only 108 hrs old having difficulty starting up

Use the warranty! since you anly had it for 8 weeks, and the waaranty last for one year, go back with it and get it repaired or get a new bulb. A buld last at least 2500 hours, in eco mode it last for over 3000 hours.

Good luck to you

Dvd10 optoma projector makes a loud noise

Hi, I'm not sure if it's the same problem I had..
I had it on picture mute, for maybe 15 mins, which may not have been a good idea. While it was muted, it made a sparking sound, and then a very loud grinding noise. When turned off, the lound noise stops, and the fan continues as usual for about a minute. As soon as it's turned back on, the grinding noise is back. But the logo seemed to display ok.

I took it in for repairs, and they said they needed to replace the color wheel to fix the problem.

Optoma projector image yellowing

Very odd problem. Depending on the hours of the projector it could have some glass in it that over heated. Contact Optoma directly, my guess is they will work with you.. good luck

Noisy projector

Hi there

It is a pitty that they quoted you so much for the replacement of a colourwheel - because it really is'nt a expensive part to have replaced.

It makes me really mad that some repairers take chances like that with their clients.
