First up, don't buy a Dell again unless you like old **** with horrible support.

On Topic

- Did you pull out the keyboard and try another USB port (if it is an USB keyboard), or try another keyboard.
- If that doesn't work try clearing the CMOS (remove power plug, power on (to empty capasitors), either remove the CMOS battery and power on, or find a jumper to reset the CMOS. (since this is a Dell a that might not exist but check the manual).

Check and replace its main power regulator board. It might be faulty. Normally there is no repair to these boards. Card base replacement should be done.

Distribution problem with my Optiplex 330, how do i fix it

My recollection is that there should be four LED at that flick as the system POSTs finally all flashing green before going out for successful.

Found this doc which describes the diagnostic lights. I was partly right: there should be four but they should be green not orange.

Sounds like a board failure to me. It's a Dell so check if it's still in warranty (my bet is no) before you start. If you can, make it Dell's problem.

Things to try:

Check any supplementary power on the new PS is plugged in.

Remove any plug in cards, including RAM. Remove IDE and SATA cables. Remove power to HDDs, CD-ROMs, etc. Make sure the speaker is plugged in so you can hear any beep codes generated. Put them back one at a time starting with RAM. With no RAM, you should get a beep code to confirm that the MB is functioning at all.

Use a multimeter to make sure you have a live power supply.

My guess is the MB is dead and you won't get a replacement other than second hand.

Mecer LV26 LCD monitor won't switch on

This is an indication of protection error and might require attention of a qualified service technician. Before that, look for any loose contacts in RC jack, cables, power outlet etc. Try changing the input device to some other that works.

Dell insipirion 530s power light stays orange fan running wild

Hi deb lewis,
the orange power light is your warning that your power supply is going bad. I'd replace the power supply with the same size or larger (preferred)

My dell gx260 ligth come green if i turn it on but for a few mins time it turn orange why

Do you mean the monitor's power light starts green and then turns orange when you turn it on? Most monitors will go to a power saving mode when they do not get a signal from the computer.

The Dell GX260 has a green power light when on. When the computer is off, the light is off. If it is green and blinking, then the computer is in a power saving mode.

Diagnosis: start with the obvious: is the monitor cable plugged into both the computer and the monitor (if not permanently connected to the monitor)? Are you connected to the active port? (You can add a video graphics card in most desktops. The motherboard video port usually needs to be disabled to use the card ports. If you plug in the monitor cable to the disabled port, it won't work.) Is the monitor set to the correct input? (This applies if the monitor has several ports. In that case, there will be a Source or Input button on the monitor.) Is the computer on? The GX260 has the power button on the front. (Other computers have the power button on the top.) There is also the power supply switch on the back which needs to be on.

Next try a different data cable between the monitor and the computer (if you can). Try a different monitor. If a second monitor works, than the monitor has a damaged main board. If the second monitor doesn't work, then the video graphics adapter has probably failed. Replace the add-on card, if in use, then boot in the safe mode to remove the old graphics driver. Then install the correct driver for the graphics adapter.

Note: the computer and the monitor should both be off when you connect the cables. Then turn on the monitor first and set it to the correct source before turning on the computer.)

I hope this helps.

If the POWER Button on the TOWER is blinking AMBER (Yellow) then the most likely failure point is the POWER SUPPLY in the Tower.

E310 diag lights 1 & 2 stay on a long time (10 minutes)

A possible expansion card failure has occurred

  1. Determine whether a conflict exists by removing a card and restarting the computer.
  2. If the problem persists, reinstall the card that you removed, remove a different card, and then restart the computer.
  3. Repeat this process for each card. If the computer starts normally, troubleshoot the last card removed from the computer for resource conflicts (see "Resolving Software and Hardware Compatibilities" in your computer Owner's Manual).
  4. If the problem persists, contact Dell for technical assistance.
