If it is a modified 2547, I doubt the person who modified it would put "for export only" on it.

Since you didn't say anything about more than 40 channels (frequencies), it could be an early serial # from the time before the 2547 was approved by the FCC for sale in the US and only sold as legit to overseas markets. The Galaxy DX 2547 has been made in one version or another for quite a while. The early models have lesser TX finals and a couple bugs that was ironed out in later versions of the 2547.

Normally, this radio will only work on CB frequencies. I suspect the radio has been modified to get channels below and above the regular 40. If so, the radio is no longer type-accepted by FCC. It is unlikely you would get into trouble using the radio.

How to install echo board in a Galaxy 2547

  • The DX2547 is the same as a Galaxy 959 - a SSB/AM CB radio. The standard of echo boards is the TRB-X2. This installs the same way in most CB radios. I have uploaded an instruction sheet here http://minus.com/lbkZJ6ZfR6qbEY Very easy to follow. If you happen to have any further questions please feel free to ask.

  • Hope this helps..

Need bulb replacement for DX 2547 meter for swr, mod, power and etc. Thanks

You will more than likely need to get the OEM part for this as I do not know of an after market. There is only one place in the country that sells them. Maycomm Communications www.maycomcomm.com They are the only one in the US that deals in new OEM Galaxy radio parts. That is where I go for parts for Galaxy radios I cannot find. You can also call some random CB shops to see if the have that meter from a parts radio they have laying around but for me, if I open a radio, I use new parts only. Good luck. Maycomm will fix you up.
