Why does the date and time setting screen appear when I turn on the camera?

• The camera records the date and time of each photo in the metadata attached to each picture. You have the option to see the date and time when when the camera is in "Playback" mode, which allows you to preview your images on the screen. When looking at your pictures, use the "Disp/Back" button to include text with your pictures. The date and time will appear along the bottom of the image.

Printing the Date on Pictures

• Users can include the time and date on their prints from the "Mode" menu by choosing "Print Order" with the "With Date" option.

If the language selection screen does not re-appear when you turn the camera on, it means that the camera’s built-in memory management area has been restored. This is for a Nikon Cool Pix Model - Turn your camera on - press the menu button - down arrow to the little wrench picture (select left arrow to get to icons on left of screen) then click down to wrench .. date should be one of your choices click down to date - clik okay or right arrow .. date should appear right arrow and camera will walk you through setting date.

Sounds to me that there may be another battery inside the camera that is going bad.


Issue: Everytime I power on the camera the Date / Time needs to be set.
Solution: Replacing the Date Battery for the PowerShot A480.

Replacing the Date Battery. If the Date/Time menu appears when the camera power is turned on, the date battery charge is low and the date and time settings have been lost. Please purchase a lithium coin battery (CR1220) and replace it as follows.
Please note that the first date battery may appear to expire relatively quickly after you purchase the camera. This is because it is installed in the camera at the point of manufacture, not when you make the purchase. Be particularly careful to keep the date batteries out of the reach of children. Seek medical assistance immediately if a child swallows a battery since corrosive battery fluids can damage the stomach or intestinal walls. 1. Confirm that the camera power is turned off.
2. Open up the battery door / cover and remove the AA Batteries.
3. Remove the date/time battery holder.
4. Grasp the battery and slide it in the direction of the arrow.
5. Insert a new battery with the (+) side facing up.
6. Replace the battery holder and battery cover.
7. When the Date/Time menu appears set the date and time.
After purchasing the camera and turning on the power for the first time, although the Date/Time menu will appear, you do not need to replace the date battery. If you ever dispose of your camera, first remove the date battery for recycling according to the recycling system of your area.

The camera should be able to have its date and time set through the menu and it should hold the date if you switch batteries. If it doesn't then the internal battery may have to be changed by a kodak service center.

The camera screen displays "Date/Time have been reset." What should I do?
This message appears if:

• this is the first time that you have turned on your camera.
• the battery has been removed for an extended period of time.
• the battery is exhausted.

To set the date and time:

1. Press the Menu button.
2. Use the arrows to:
   1. Select the Setup menu.
   2. Select the Date & Time feature.
   3. Set the date and time.
3. When you are finished, press the OK button.

The Date & Time have been reset message appears after the Language screen the first time you turn on the camera. It may also appear if the batteries are removed for an extended time.

1. SET DATE & TIME is highlighted. Press the OK button.

have you check the settings for time and date have you saved it? You can also try to remove the cam battry for 2 mins. then put it back in then turn on the camera and then after few secs. turn it off, then see if the issue persist.

The date/time cannot be deleted once it is embedded in the image. To turn off the date/time deselect the date/time stamping by following procedure:

• When selecting [Date Stamp] , [Recording Pixels] is set to 1600 x 1200 pixels and the compression (image quality) to [Fine].
• When the shooting mode is set to <Movie> (), settings for inserting the date and time cannot be made.
• The following explanations are provided based on the assumption that the [Shooting Mode] is set to <Program AE> ().

1. Press the <Power> button on the camera.

2. Press the <FUNC./SET> () button.

3. A screen like the one below will appear on the monitor.

Select [Date Stamp] () in the [Recording Pixels] section .
Press the <MENU> () button.


4. A screen like the one below will appear on the monitor.

Operate the <directional buttons> left or right to select [Date Stamp] and set it to [Date] or [Date & Time].
Press the <MENU> () button.


5. Press the <FUNC./SET> () button.

6. Make sure that the [Date Stamp] is set and the following screen will appear with the icon () in the lower-left corner of the screen.

7. When shooting with this setting, the date will be embedded in the image as shown below.

warning: The date, its font and color, and the position where it is displayed cannot be changed. Also, dates and times recorded with [Date Stamp] cannot be deleted.

This will always be displayed in your camera. However to choose what will imprint on the pix :

Turn your dial to SETUP and select DATE IMPRINT. Then select OFF (nothing will imprint on pix), or DATE (for just the date to be imprinted), or DATE and TIME (for both time and date to be imprinted)
