Pixma MP610 problem: Just got this printer set up. Tried it a few times. I am running it with Mac leopard. When I try to print from the computer there is NO OPTION to set media type or page orientation. What gives. Is this missing in the Mac? Do I need a different driver. I bought this multifunction printer at a Mac store so I will be upset if there are issues with using a Mac with this machine.

Make sure you are adding the correct driver..
Check print and fax under system preferences..
Make sure you are not adding the gutenprint driver which is embedded on your mac..
You can check the driver version, if you see gutenprint on your driver, delete it and re-add the correct driver.. it should say canonxxxx then try to check print settings again...

I want to print black and white at times but can't seem to find a way to do this with the canon mp610 on my mac running safari.

You should be able to set it in your printer properties.

Select - Advanced - Printing defaults - Main - Check "Greyscale Printing".

I have a cannon MP 160 printer/scanner. It does not work on a Mac

Uninstall all your drivers (and delete the preferences) and download the Mac drivers from this link. The drivers that came with your printer were developed before Snow Leopard came out.

Mac OS 10.5 Leopard

As per someone elses post here:
# Select Print from the File menu.

If you see the message The Epson Printer Driver dealing with CD printing is not installed, click OK.

# Click Tray, select Tray 2, then click OK.

Note: If Tray 2 is not selected, the CD design will print in the wrong position.

# Click Manual Print.

# Make sure Epson Stylus Photo R(your model) is selected.

# Under Paper, select the following settings:

* Source: Manual

* Size: A4

# Click Properties.

# Select CD/DVD or CD/DVD Premium Surface for the Media Type setting.

# Click OK, then click OK again to print.
