Model GHD30 dehumidifier-runs for a few minutes then shuts off. Will start again after a few minutes then shut off again, and so on. Does not seem to be "dehumifying" when operating.

As I have told many questioners, There are 5 basic, but solvable reason for what you described. Please pay particular attention to numbers 1 & 2..

1. The humidity extraction level is set to HIGH. Lower it to 32-35%. If your unit does not have an
LED screen, turn the control to Maximum.

2. Air intake filter is dirty or clogged. Turn unit OFF, & Unplug the
Unit, before removing to inspect & clean it, if necessary. If washed,
allow filter to completely dry before reinstalling. DO NOT operate
the unit without the filter.

3. Obstructed air flow. Maintain a minimum of 12 to 18" of clear air
space around the entire unit.

4. Cooling coils are dirty and need to be cleaned. Use warm water & dish washing liquid to clean
the coils. Rinse and wipe dry. Apply a light coating of WD40 to the coils.

5. Ambient air temperature at floor level is between 40 - 60 degrees.
dehumidifiers do not work well between those temperatures
(Unless, you have a Low Temp Unit). This applies mainly to
where the air temperature at floor level is colder than at shoulder
in basement applications level. Raising the unit up off the floor,
onto a sturdy table, counter top, etc, that can handle the weight
of the unit, plus a full tank of water, will usually resolve this
problem.

If none of the above solves the problem, it may be a case of the compressor needs to be recharged with refrigerant gas or that the humidity condenser sensor has failed. These things usually occur in units that are 5 years old or older. It's rare in a unit younger than that. But, it can happen.

Hope this helped you to troubleshoot and solve the problem.

Dehumidifier lights up comes on will only run for a few minutes does not collect any water

You probably have it set for too high (moist) a setting, so it doesn't need to run long.

Slowly reduce setting to Drier settings to get it to run longer.

I have a Goldstar GHD30 dehumidifer that I bought used last week. It's pulling 20-30 pints of water each day out of my basement so it appears to be working. The compressor only runs for 1-2 minutes at a...

yes cycles should be longer either that or the unit is keeping close to desired humidity. Also the unit is under sized 30 pint is for 400sqft. or 20 by 20 room. humidity should be 30/50 percent check your level desired room temp is 70 degrees but its a basemnt 60 works.

GHD30 dehumidifier completely dead

If any machine is completely electrically dead it is a sign that there is no electrical voltage getting through to operate it. Using an electric meter it is a relatively easy task to find the point of differential voltages which would indicate where the open circuit is located. The blue green fluid found is from copper oxide and is not necessarily indicative of a refrigerant leak. Oil present would be an indicator of a refrigerant leak.

Haier dehumidifer HD656E

What you think it means is exactly what it does mean. When a running unit is shut off it should not be restarted until the system pressures have had time to balance out so the compressor can restart without difficulty.

Dehumidifier

IS THE ROOM HUMIDITY LOW. IF IT IS BELOW 30% THE HUMIDISTAT WILL SHUT DOWN THE UNIT. THE AMMBIENT TEMP SHOULD BE ABOVE 65 DEGREES AND THE HUMIDITY SHOULD BE ABOVE 50 %.

Constant on-off cycle

If the unit is freezing up I suggest replacing the sensor assembly. Just replaced mine because the thermistor that is on the suction line went bad and would not send the reversing valve into defrost.
