My franklin chef fcr360d fridge needs a new compressor. My service guy told me that since they are out of business he can't get a replacement part. Any suggestions on how (if) I can get one anywhere else? thanks

I contacted three of our "off the grid" suppliers that normally have parts that others don't and was told that none of them have the compressor. They didn't even have a suggestion on a compressor that would be the same size and rating as the compressor on the Franklin Chef - BUT since it was primarily sold as an outdoor refrigerator that had to stand up to the elements - they had no suggestions that could be used.

Sorry, but there just doesn't seem to be anything left in anyones stock piles for your unit.

Generally speaking a replacement compressor can be specified using information from the old one . but sometimes there are slight differences in footprint, and tube arrangements that can make it more difficult. I find compressor changes are done much better in the shop. If this unit is small enough you could take it to an independent shop and have it done, or they could come out. Overall the cost of a compressor replacement may be high enough to consider just getting a new unit.

Hi there,

This sounds like a bad capacitor to me. You can replace it with a new one, just make sure you mark the electrical poles correctly when you remove it so you won't have any problems placing them back when you get a new one.
If you are uncomfortable in replacing this part, I suggest you contact your local ref technician and have it replaced for you. You can buy a new one around $45.

Hope this helps.

Fans run compressor get hot soits running but it is not cooling.

Its hard to say for sure, but, either it is out of refrigerant or the valves in the compressor are bad.
It the compressor may also be seized. If its hot, but you don't hear it running it's locked up. Hit the compressor with a hammer while its plugged in...(seriously). If it starts run, it's probably going to lock up again and you should see about getting it replaced.

The Ice Machine is pulling 40 - 50+ Amps on compressor startup, after 5 - 10 secs it trips the breaker. WHat could this be and is it easily corrected.

sounds like you need to change compacitor on compressor or your compressor needs replaced i would change compacitor first and if not helping then change compressor even if you buy compacitor and it doesnt help you still need to have a new one for the new compressor
