Good day Steve.
The problem could be just the ink cartridge or the print head itself.
Here are a few tips to try to correct this problem.
1.On the front panel of your printer, press Set up
then press Tools.
Choose Align Print head then press OK. Print head alignment will start.
You will most probably get an alignment failed. This is already a sign of
a hardware issue, in this case the print head.
Or
Open HP Solution Center (click Start , click All Programs , click HP , and then click HP Solution Center ).
If you have more than one All-in-One installed, make sure to select the correct All-in-One tab in HP Solution Center .
Click Settings .
Click Print Settings .
Click Printer Toolbox .
On the Device Services tab, click Clean the Print Cartridges , and then follow the onscreen instructions. Three levels of cleaning are available.
2.Manually check the ink cartridges for any leaks. Reseat each ink cartridge
and clean them.
3.Perform a power reset.
While the printer is on, unplug the power cable from the back of the printer.
Wait for 30 seconds and then powering it back on.
Try to print and if it still the same issue, it is already a print head problem.
