Have a Presario c769us running Vista. Frequently, scrollable windows scroll to the bottom and stay there. I've discovered that hitting esc frees things up. I also discovered that using the scroll up/down buttons cause the problem every time. I think I have a keyboard problem. I was going to try to reseat the keyboard connector but could not get the keyboard off. I unscrewed the two screws marked as keyboard, then tried to free the keyboard but couldn't. I turned the keyboard upside down and gently pried against the top keys but no success. Any ideas?
To isolate the issue please uninstall and reinstall the Keyboar drivers and install the Touchpad drivers.
Here are the steps to uninstall Keyboard drivers.
Click start and in the start search box type Device Manager and press enter.
Then click on the + sign next to keyboard and right click on all the devices listed under Keyboard and select uninstall.
Then restart the Notebook. This will automatically install Keyboard drivers.
Here is the weblink to install Touchpad drivers.
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp38501-39000/sp38629.exe
Please do not click on the link. Copy and paste it in a new Internet Explorer window.
After installing the Touchpad drivers restart the Notebook to get the changes effect.
I hope this should resolve the issue.
Thanks.

Yes. As I said, I think the keyboard is causing some repetitive characters to be sent which cause scroll windows to scroll to the bottom and stay there. The only way to break out of this is to hit ESC. I was going to reseat the keyboard connector but could not remove the keyboard. Thanks.
Uninstall/install of drivers had no effect. Problem persists.
I understand that your Notebook Touch pad scrolling and keyboard is not working. Am I right?
