In some cases Microsoft Outlook has problems handling attached image files and will display a blank dialog box with a red "X" in it. In order to fix this choose "Detect and Repair" from the Microsoft Outlook "Help" menu. After performing this operation Nikon View will be able to attach image files and the "E-mail" button will work as expected.

Help! I can't respond via email on Craig's List

Imagine your shopping on Craig's List and find this GREAT item you really want to buy. You open the ad, decided the price is fantastic and want to contact the seller. There is no phone number listed, so your only choice is to email the address at the top of the ad. You click on it, because it looks like a link and this strange program called "Outlook" opens.

You continue with your email and hit the good old "send" button and instead of a confirmation you end up with an error.

Has this ever happened to you?

Craig's List uses Microsoft Outlook as a default for handling email on their webpage. What is Outlook? Microsoft Outlook is an email handling software that allows you to handle everything in one place. This means that you can have your AOL, Yahoo and Gmail all go to the same place in one big in box.

When Outlook is configured correctly, emailing Craig's List ads is a snap! You click on the blue email link inside the listing and it automatically opens your Outlook mail server.

For those of you who do not wish to install, configure and use Outlook - you can still use your regular email to answer ads on Craig's list. It just takes a little more work.

If you would like to email ads on Craig's List without using Microsoft Outlook, follow the instructions below:

Open Craig's List on the internet and minimize the screen

Open another window on the internet and sign into your email account

Go back to the Craig's List window and find an ad your interested in emailing

Highlight the email address at the top of the ad by clicking the button on your mouse and dragging across until all of the address is covered

With the address highlighted, right click on your mouse and choose "copy"

Minimize the window and pick up your email account which is open at the bottom of your screen.

Proceed to composing an email like you normally would.

In the address window, right click again with your mouse and choose paste

This pastes the address from the seller on Craig's List into your email program.

Write your email and send just like normal.

You can use this copy and paste method with any email provider on the internet. Good luck and happy shopping!

How can I rid away of 5.5.0 undisclosed-recipients:; that appears to my Outlook all the time?

You will get a 5.5.0 error if the account you are emailing no longer exists. The undisclosed-recipients indicates to me that you are emailing a list of people. In order to stop getting this message you need to email everybody on your mailing list individually and see which ones are no longer valid and then remove them from your list. The only way to stop getting this error is to keep your mailing list completely up to date.

Tried to send e-mail error host SMTP could not be found error code ox8oocccod do not understand what that means

It sounds as though you're using Outlook to send email to and from and ISP and not to or from a Microsoft Exchange server. If so, then the following applies.

The error message means that there is a configuration problem with your email account settings. This error usually happens when an error has been made when specifiy the name of the outgoing (SMTP) mail server.

Note: It may be necessary to contact your ISP to obtain their specific mail server information. The standard port number for Incoming mail (POP3) is 110. The standard port number for Outgoing mail (SMTP) is 25.

Here's what you need to do to verify your settings:

1. Contact your ISP to obtain their specific mail server settings.
2. Open Outlook
3. Click on the "Tools" menu item then click on "Account Settings".
4. Make sure you are on the "Email tab" of the account setting dialog box.
5. Double click on the email account that is listed under "Name".
6. The Internet Email Settings dialog box will appear.
7. Look for the heading "Sever Information". Below that heading you will see Incoming and Outgoing Mail Server . Verify the names of your mail servers match the information given to you by your ISP.
8. If your ISP have provided you with port numbers other than those listed in the note above, perform steps 9 to 12. Otherwise proceed to step 13.
9. From the Internet Email Settings dialog box, click on the "More Settings" button.
10. Click on the "Advanced" tab.
11. Change the Incoming and Outgoing mail server ports to match the information provided by your ISP.
12. Click the OK button to save the changes.
13. Click on the "Next" button.
14. Click on the "Finish" button.
15. Click on the "Close" button to colse the account settings.

Outlook will now be configured properly to send and receive Internet Email.
