S1050 Samsung crashed?

I was half way through taking a photo when it suddenly just turned itself off without even retracting the lens.
Now, even with completely new batteries, whenever it is turned on it just says Low Battery or beeps 5 times, so its stuck with the lens still out.
Anything i can do?

Hi my sister is having the same problem at the moment, she brought the camera for her birthday less than a month ago and when trying to take a photo it crashed, the lens is not stuck out of the camera and there appears to be no response from the camera itself when its turned on

The camera is stuck with the lens out and when turned on the power light and green light next to the zoom control flicker. Nothing else happens. No external damage was caused.

Ok, i had a similar problem I had normal batteries in there... cheap ones... and accidentally set the battery type to NiMh in the camera settings... it wouldnt turn on after that. Make sure you try NiMh batteries in case that might be your problem. Another thing i have noticed (may be just my camera) is that it doesnt want to work if its cold....

I would wait until your battery comes in, if there is no change then yes I would take it in to have it assessed with a estimate first giving the option to go ahead or not.

Shutter won't open when camera is switched on. Camera will still take photos with shutter closed, lens still extends as normal.

Not sure if you mean the automatic lens cover, or the actual lens shutter, so here's fixes for both:

Samsung S860. Lens will not go all the way out without pulling it out manually and then when I turn camera off, it only retracts half way.

you have a damaged lens unit.
in warranty = 35.00
out of warranty = 165.00

Hiya hope you can help, I have a Samsung Digimax Cyber 530 which I dropped on the floor while it was on the other night. Now the lens won't retract fully and although it does switch itself on I can't...

For your uploading problem, can you take out the SD card and put it into an SD card reader.

S1050 frozen

Today (2009/11/21) have the same problem with the black model of s1050, sometimes ear the motor running but the lents dont move and the cam still dead.

Lens error and blurry photos

If your images are blurry and the lens wont move smoothly it is very probable that some kind of force on the lens has damaged a gear, barrel or even dislodged an element internally. When the lens detects an obstruction in its movement the camera reports accordingly,"lens error". You should have the camera checked by a service centre, it will most likely need the lens replaced as they are not serviceable.

I was taking a picture one day and all of a sudden my camera turned off. But when it turned off the camera lense stayed out. Now I charged the battery and it still won't turn on.

For a temporary fix, once the lens is fully extended, turn the power on (the light should flash for a very brief period), and within that period, repetedly smack the top of the lens and it will retract. Ps. It can take more abuse than you may think.
Also, this is simply temporary. Sometimes it will work for a day, and sometimes a month. And even soimetimes it won't work. But it's worth a shot if you have a perfect photo-op.

Error message- remove lens cap and press > button

Is your lens not retracting?
I've got the same problem and with the lens not retracting - this is why i get the message.
