When an icemaker slows production, the problem is not the icemaker at all but the temps in the freezer warming up because of an airflow problem either in the freezer compartment evaporator coils or underneath the unit that being the condenser coils. (Fan not working or lint blockage)
Airflow problems in the freezer compartment are caused by the fan or the automatic defrost system not functioning properly so yu end up with an ice block / lots of frost in the freezer compartment on the back wall of the compartment.

Check for ice or large amounts of frost in the freezer compartment. If you note ice / excessive frost, unplug the unit, empty the freezer compartment and do a manual defrost by directing an external fan into the compartment for just over 2 hours. This will ensure the evaporator coils and the freezer compartment drain have thawed. While the manual defrost is in progress remove the rear fiberboard cover from the compressor access and check / clean the condensor coils and fan area.
After 2 hours clean up the excess water.. reassemble the rear cover and return the unit to NORMAL service. It should start making lots of ice in 4 to 6 hours. Here is the kicker... if there is an auomatic defrosting problem your icemaker will after 2 - 3 days again slow ice producion and ice will build up in the evaporator area. You will have to keep repeating the manual defrosting process every 3 to 4 days until the automatic defrost system is repaired.

There are 3 main components of the Automatic defrost system:
1. Defrost control
2. Defrost heater
3. Defrost thermostat or depending on type thermistor

Most of the time the problem is either the defrost control or the heater that fails and the unit stops defrosting.

Suspect that the rubber boot that runs all around the edge of your freezer door is deformed, allowing warm air to seep into your freezer. Ice maker makes hollow ice

Not enough water. Check water filter if you have one and replace. Check water inlet valve pull supply line off of water inlet valve and make sure the screen in the water valve is not stopped up. make sure water line is not kinked.

My ice maker doesn't make enough ice cubes

Is the ice maker itself filling normally, meaning where the cubes are made gets enough water to cover the complete area or just a few slots? If not then check the fill tube where the water comes into the ice maker to make sure no ice has formed blocking the water from coming in.
Now if ice production in general has slowed, going from every 45 minutes or so to like every 6 hours, then your machine more than likely isn't getting cold enough. The ice maker requires the temperature be at least 10 degrees F or below for it to function properly.

Whirlpool ED5VHEXVQ03 side by side. Ice maker is not making ice. Checked water line - okay. Checked water valve - okay. Water filling tray - okay.

Whirlpool Ice Makers are about the hardest working part on your refrigerator and their average life is about five years. You can fill the tray with tap water if the ice slots are already empty and let the water freeze. If after the water freezes and the ice drops to ice bin then the water control valve.

Ice maker not making ice. There is no jam and all swithes are in the on position. I think a hose has disconnected, where can I find the hose to check it

Icemaker not working: Check the shutoff arm, the shutoffarm fails to move upward when the ice bucket is full. Check the water pressure. If thereis not enough pressure, the ice maker will not have enough water to make ice.Ifwater flow pressure is good, check solenoid valve activate and also it'scleaned. Locate your ice maker, remove theice bucket. Pull the cover off the end of the ice maker. Locate the holes "V"and "L". Take a paper clip (jump clip) and tape. Straight the clip and put tapein middle. Hold the taped side and insert the clip into "V" and "L". This sendsthe power to water valve. If water goes into ice-maker, water valve is good. Ifnotreplace solenoid. Check thefreezer temperature. Making very little to no ice water filter has been changed out already

could have a bad water valve,next time send model number.on some of the ice makers you can pop off the white cover and on the right hand side you'll see to holes close together,you can jump out the ice maker to see if the water valve is sending up enough water to fill the ice maker,stick the end of the wire in each hole,you'll see the middle part start turning,when the theeth of the ice maker are at 9 oclock pull the wire out and watch to see the ice maker fill.if it doesn't fill and you hear the water valve turn on the valve is bad and has to be changed out.let me know how you make out

Ice maker only makes cubes. It will not make crushed ice.

Hi

Kindly check it could be because of following reasons :

Freezer may not be cold enough.
Temperature must be 5 degrees (Fahrenheit) or colder to work properly.

Normal ice making capacity.
The ice maker will produce between 2.5 to 4.0 pounds of ice a day depending on your model. Side-by-side models come with a large ice bucket and it may take up to three days to fill this container.

Water supply valve may not be completely open.
Open valve completely.

Water supply valve may be blocked by foreign material or may not be large enough.
Supply valve must have a 1/4" opening for water to fully supply ice maker. Many self-piercing valves do not have this big of an opening. Replace water supply valve with one that has a 1/4" opening.

Water filter may need changing.
If equipped with a water filter, replace filter canister or cartridge.

Ice machine quit making ice

The refrigerator has a duel water valve, one for the ice-maker and one for the water dispenser (if equipped). The valve that the ice-maker relies on may be bad, or it could be the ice-maker itself.
Another thing that could cause it would be the temperatures in the freezer. The ice-maker will not call for water until it reaches under 15 degrees. In addition, check the water tube behind the ice-maker to make sure it is not frozen, blocking more water from entering. The water does not go to the ice-maker or thru the filter unless the ice-maker turns on the water valve.
