Hello there and thank you for choosing fixya
Ahhh, the ND error code on a digital Neptune front load washer. The ND
code means 'No Drain' and it is probably just something caught in the
pump. I've seen where a coin can get in there and keep the pump from
starting.
Some other items known to stop a Neptune pump: Rubber
backing from a rug, rubber bands, bobbie pin, lens from a flashlight,
tooth pick and a bra wire. Maybe you had something different in your
pump?
If
you have a floor drain you should be able to drop the discharge hose to
the floor and let gravity pull the water out so you can take the pump
out and get a good look at it.
Also a word of advice to avoid wasting time. The pump is usually towards the front of the machine. ok?
Hope this is very helpful for you
Best regards Mike
OK I have Maytag Neptune MAH5500B. Got ND error and load hum in the middle of cycle when the tub is supposed to drain. It was a bobby pin stuck in the drain impeller in this case. Here is the step by step. Shut off hot and cold water to washer. Use a cup and a bucket to get most of the water out of the tub. Pull the plug and pull washer forward. Now here is the best tip. Take the washer drain hose out of the wall drain, wrap a towel around to end to seal and put it in the end of your wet dry shop vac and it will **** all of the water out of the remainder of the system. Take out back center metal cover, 4 sheet metal screws. At lower left under the tub (geez there is not much to these expensive washers) the drain pump sits attached to the bottom with a fill control unit attached to the top of it. Use a vise grip to open the clamps attaching the two rubber hose going in and out of the pump. Stick your finger into the hole going in to the pump from either end and you will probably feel whatever it is that is binding the pump impeller. I did not need to remove the pump or open it up as some suggest. There is no filter going in from the tub that I could see, although there is a rubber flap valve on the exit side of the pump. There is a bulbous section of the tub drain hose that I suppose is meant to catch junk and I did take a kitchen spoon to dig out debris in that saccular area. Take care to get a good seal when putting hoses back on. Closer her up and put everything back in place. Took me an hour and a half with head scratching, but would have taken me less if there was a good post on the subject. Look up the manual here for a picturehttp://www.scribd.com/doc/38854269/Mayta... Save you $100 or so to give this a try. Good luck. Doug
