Fax from computer

First, you will need a USB fax modem. Then you use Windows Fax & Scan program to create/forward new fax documents, or even send a file as a fax or email.

Setting up your external modem to work with an internet telephone line is simple. Simply put a 2 way splitter into the internet modem telephone jack. Plug your telephone into one input and the external fax modem into the other. Then you can even dial from your computer routine telephone calls too.

How I can receive fax through computer with HP1312?

Hi a barati75

A fax transmission is an analogue communication that was possible on a computer with the old technology of Dial up Modems, which accessed the internet by dialling like a landline telephone. The Broadband Modems (or Modem/Routers) in widespread use today have an 'always on' internet connection and, therefore, no dialling is involved in internet access using them.

You can send a fax by dialling out on the All-in-one printer's telephone number pad. Receiving a fax automatically requires you to have the All-in-one printer's Transmission/Reception Settings set to 'Automatic'.

This fax setup requires the printer's fax cable to plugged directly into an empty Telephone Line Socket on the ADSL filter that plugs into your Telephone Wall Socket and has inputs for your Modem (or Modem/Router) and a Telephone line. If, as is common, your ADSL Filter only has a single Telephone Line Socket and you also require a telephone to be plugged into the same socket as well as the Fax Machine component of your printer, then a Telephone Line Socket Doubler must first be plugged into the Telephone Line Socket of the ADSL Filter which then receives the Fax Line into one socket and the Telephone Line into the other. Please note that every Telephone Socket in the building sharing the same circuit/telephone number must also have an ADSL filter between it and any telephonic device (Telephone/Fax Machine/Answering Machine/Stock Control linked EPOS (Electronic Point of Sale) System/Card Payment Processing Machine, etc.), in order to enable both Computer Internet Data and Telecommunications Data to share the same line without conflict.

Your question asks whether a fax can be received "through" the computer. The above description enables your printer to send and receive faxes 'independently' of the computer while simultaneously providing the computer with printing, scanning and copying functions. For faxes to be sent and received via the computer, software is required. The simplest and most efficient of which is Efax (Electronic Fax (available from www.efax.com) and other similar software available from a variety of suppliers. This software enables the user to send any document or image stored on the computer by fax (without first having to print it) and to receive faxes, at any time, in the form of attachments to e-mails that the software opens, usually as a non-editable PDF or other similar secure Document Format. Faxing a physical document via Efax requires the user to scan the document and save it on the computer first, before sending it.

A combination of a Standalone Fax function setup using ADSL Filters and Socket Doublers + Efax gives the user optimum flexibility in sending and receiving faxes.

I hope this helps.

Display says line error and print out says jam

• Check the connection. The cord from the TEL.LINE jack to the wall jack should be no longer than
six feet.
• Make sure there are no modem devices sharing the same telephone line.
• Check with the other party to make sure their fax machine is functioning properly.
• Have your telephone line checked for line noise.
• Try connecting the fax machine to a different telephone line.
• If the problem still occurs, your fax machine may need service.
Clearing a jammed document
If the original document doesn't feed properly during transmission or copying,
or DOCUMENT JAMMED appears in the display, first try pressing start/memory . If
the document doesn't feed out, remove it as explained below.
Important:
Do not try to remove a jammed document without releasing it as explained
below. This may damage the feeder mechanism.

I CAN`T SEND A FAX

Fax machines are sorta like printers, sorta like scanners, and sorta like dial up modems all wrapped into one expensive box.
1. First thing to make sure of is that you are hooked to a phone line. most fax machines have a phone handset that you can make calls from. Call someone and make sure that works. If So, you are able to connect to phone networks, and should have no trouble sending or receiving data. If you have a dead line or no sound, check the line and check the power. (its always the easy stuff that is overlooked, just check it and make sure).
2. If this fax machine has computer interface, (usb port or parallel cable port), see if you can scan with it. Drop a document into the scan area and see if the computer can scan an image from the scanner. If the scanner works, you can scan images into the fax machine to be sent to the fax number. (If your fax machine does not have a scan to computer feature, skip this.)
3. if your fax machine has a print from pc feature, try to print a document to it from your computer. If you can print, then the printer works, and you can receive faxes. (if your fax machine does not have a pc printing feature, skip this)
4. Here is how a typical fax machine works. You place the document or image into the scanner feed area. You press a big button that usually says "fax" and then, a screen pops up saying to dial the number. You dial the number and press SEND. once you press Send, the machine will scan the document, dial the number and sing a little dial up modem song awaiting a response from the receiving machine. the receiving machine acknowledges the fax, and the singing is no longer audible (but it continues because the modem song is actually data transmission/reception). after about 20-60 seconds, the fax completes and the call ends. As for the particular model you have, the functions should be about the same, though the buttons and arrangements may be different. FYI, you can send a fax straight from the PC too, if you have a dial-up fax/modem card.

I am trying to use the fax facility on my epson600fw.my isp is aol .Problem no dial tone. What connections are necessary............via printer, modem & computer ?

Typically, a fax machine is connected directly to a telephone wall jack with a known working connection. Try plugging the fax machine directly into a wall jack first and pick up the handset on the fax machine if it has one. You should get a dial tone. Then try to fax something to someone you know.

The machine can also usually be routed through the modem in a computer by connecting the "line" cord on the modem to the wall jack and plugging the fax machine into the the "phone" jack on the modem. You may need to install the software that came with the fax machine to get this to work.

If you have no dial tone, check the wall jack with a known to be working single line phone. If there is a dial tone, it's something to do with fax machine, the computer modem or the connections.

Some fax machines can take advantage of internet faxing through a cable modem or DSL connection. Check your manual for the options available.

How to send fax from computer ?

Hi,
Please follw the below steps:

2. Open the document that you want to fax.
3. From the File menu, select Print. The Print window opens.
4. Instead of printing to your default printer, look for an option that allows you to Print to Fax. Select this option and click Print.

6. The fax message compiles, the modem dials. If the connection is made with the other modem, the fax will be sent.

2. Prepare a fax cover sheet, if desired.
3. Open your fax software - such as Microsoft Fax or Microsoft Exchangemag-glass_10x10.gif.
4. Look for an icon or menu command that allows you to send a fax - such as Send New and Send Fax. Click on that item.
5. Follow instructions for entering the fax number of the recipient and any other requested information. Be sure to include area codes and long-distance information if needed.
6. Indicate whether you wish to send a cover sheet.
7. When asked to attach the file, follow instructions to attach the file that you want to fax.
8. When ready, click Send. The fax will begin to compile the information and, when ready, will dial the remote fax machine.
