I understand that you want to connect your laptop to you HDTV, however the model of your laptop has no HDMI port where you can connect to your HDTV going to your laptop.
But there's another way to connect your laptop to your TV. Your laptop has a VGA port where you can connect to your TV, now I would suggest to buy a VGA cable in the nearest gadget store in your are. Once you have the VGA cable, for you to connect your laptop to your TV here's the step.
1. Plug the VGA cable to your laptop, and plug the other end of VGA cable to your TV. 2. Then set your TV input to PC option. 3. From your laptop go to your control panel then go to "Apperance and Personalization" click it. 4. Go to "Connect to a projector" then click it. Once you click you have four options there just select the best one.

You never mentioned what model Philips TV you have, however I've researched several and most seem to have a VGA video port in the back of them. If you have one of these (15 pin D connector) on the back of your TV you should be able to purchase a corresponding VGA cable (you'll want female pins on one side of the cable and male pins on the other side) and plug one side into the VGA port on your laptop and the other cable into the TV. Then use your TV remote to select that input. Should work fine!
See item 8 in the attached user guide link to see what I'm talking about. http://download.p4c.philips.com/files/4/42pfl3403_98/42pfl3403_98_qsg_eng.pdf
I hope this response helps you out.
I wish you the very best of luck! If I can help you further, please let me know.

My Philips 55 inch TV has lost picture but has sound

If you are sure you have selected the correct input or channel but still have no picture and sound; Try resetting the TV by unplugging it from the power outlet for 30 seconds. Press the [Source] button to select the correct input source. Check the connection cables.

Hi. I have Philips HTS3115 connected to the TV Philips 37PFL9603D/10 via HDMI cable. Everything works fine with DVD and CD player. Just with the option "TV" there is no sound from TV in the...

"In the past I have got the old flat TV connected with SCART"... what about the present? HOW is the "TV" audio connected to it?

My advice would be to remove the TV as a sound source and get the TV-audio from the audio outputs of wherever it really originates. In most cases that is a Cable Box which can be treated like a high-end audio device for this discussion.

Ever wonder why Cable Boxes have separate audio and video outputs and TV's have multiple inputs? So you can send the BEST version of audio and video directly to the BEST electronics that NEEDS it and NOT to or through anything that adds nothing to the quality. Heck, many TV's are monitors without audio at all. THAT is how I would treat any TV for serious high end listening. Send the digital Cable Audio to the soud system and the 'regular' RCA audio to the TV for low-fi TV-watching like news and Oprah.

Hello, I was wondering, if there is any way to connect my computer, which is a Dell Dimension C521, up to my T.V., which is a 32 inch ilo. I have a Philips Video and Audio red white and yellow connector,...

Connecting a pc to a TV is quite simple. Your PC has either a vga out or HDMI port. Just get the right cable and connect to your vga port on the TV or HDMI port on your TV.

This way you can even have the two screens running, alternatively press Fn and the appropriate F key to switch off the laptop screen.

Your sound will still be thru your PC speakers.

Just bought a 50 panasonic viera, when we hook up ps3 on hdmi cable, we have sound but no picture.

Plasma TV normally do not have the resolution required for PS3 unless the plasma TV is fullHD( 1920x1080p) pixels.

HD Ready Plasma = 1024 x 768p
PS3 Outputs = (fullHD)1920x1080 or (HDReady) 1280 x 720p.

LCD TV accepts the resolution matches the resolution the PS3 is outputting.

Philips LCD 17PF8946/37 TV not working

The good news is that the "No Input Signal" message means that your TV is not broken. If you are trying to watch cable, then you have simply turned the TV to the wrong input channel. If your cable comes into the Philips using a coaxial cable wire, use the Philips remote to change the channel to Ch.3 or 4 - whichever channel you normally watch cable on. Make sure the cable box is turned on if you have a cable box. If the cable box connects to the TV using another type of wire, use the Ch+/- on the Philips remote and go through all the AV channels until you find the right one. Good luck! Let me know if you need additional help.

Television has sound but no picture

Check the cables first that connect to your video device, are they in tightly?  Test the cables on another TV to make sure they haven't gone bad, which is common.  Also check the input selection on the TV to make sure it matches with the video input the cable is connected to.
