I understand that you want to connect your laptop to you HDTV, however the model of your laptop has no HDMI port where you can connect to your HDTV going to your laptop.
But there's another way to connect your laptop to your TV. Your laptop has a VGA port where you can connect to your TV, now I would suggest to buy a VGA cable in the nearest gadget store in your are.
Once you have the VGA cable, for you to connect your laptop to your TV here's the step.
1. Plug the VGA cable to your laptop, and plug the other end of VGA cable to your TV.
2. Then set your TV input to PC option.
3. From your laptop go to your control panel then go to "Apperance and Personalization" click it.
4. Go to "Connect to a projector" then click it. Once you click you have four options there just select the best one.
You never mentioned what model Philips TV you have, however I've researched several and most seem to have a VGA video port in the back of them. If you have one of these (15 pin D connector) on the back of your TV you should be able to purchase a corresponding VGA cable (you'll want female pins on one side of the cable and male pins on the other side) and plug one side into the VGA port on your laptop and the other cable into the TV. Then use your TV remote to select that input. Should work fine!
See item 8 in the attached user guide link to see what I'm talking about.
