Question about Vacuums

1 Answer

I have a 18 yr old Admiral DH359 demudifier. When I turn on the dial (switch) it gives a humming noise buy the blade does not rotate. After about a minute or two it shuts off because of condenser over heat. I am not sure what the problem is. There is no filter on the unit that needs cleaning.

The problem with your unit is the fan. The engine behind the blades have gotten spoilt hence its inability to roll the blades. Usually when the engine of a fan is spoilt as a result of the coil the engine still tries to move but due to the bad coil the engine hums but does not come to a start. The fan is meant to be the main component which regulates the temperature of the unit if the fan does not cool the unit then the unit will overheat and go off. Simplest solution is to extract the entire fan plus its engine and get ? replacement for it. If you have the required expertise to open and reassemble the unit you can do this yourself otherwise get an expert to carry it out for you. Hope this solution has been helpful?

Noisy hoover

1 Check the impeller to make sure it is not missing part of a blade or has something jammed in it that could throw it off balance.
2 Check the bearings on the rotating brush, especially at the belt end.
3 Remove belt and turn on. If noise still persists, it likely would be the motor is shot.

6 yr old Aqualisa shower working perfectly well. But turned itself on last night. No light showing on dial/on switch. Wouldn't turn "off" for me. Ran for 15mins and then switched off!

Good Aternoon lrmulholland,

Do you know what model Aqualisa shower you have or are you able to take a photo of it for us? That would be very useful.

Kind Regards,

The Aqualisa Team

Actually ours is a Princess II made by Filter Queen, purchased in 1987. Wondering if motor going bad because when switch on sometimes it starts fine but other times you have to push the switch several...

It sounds like it's probably the switch. It could also be loose wiring connection to the switch, which can result in sparking. This presents a fire and/or shock hazard. Don't use it until you get it repaired. I do recommend having the vacuum checked out for a definite diagnosis. You're right about it possibly needing a new motor.

I cant use the hose

There will be a dial on top of the tank that you can rotate 180 degrees which will switch the unit from vacuum to hose.

To switch it back to vacuum, rotate the dial back 180 degrees.

Hoover steam vac dual v makes humming noise and nothing else.

Is the overfill valve (the yellow thing) in the waste container stuck in the up/full position? Maybe it just needs to be rinses well to avoid it being stuck and shutting off the vacuum portion of the cleaner.

No suction

Are you saying that the motor runs but there is no brush rotation ?

If yes then firstly switch machine on then when you pull handle back as if to vacuum the carpet the clutch drive dial must turn to (drive, start, on,) position if it is stuck on (park, off. Stop, p,) position rotate it to drive etc as you pull handle back providing the clutch & both drive belts are ok the brush will spin.
The clutch drive dial knob is situated looking from the front of machine lower left hand side approx 50mm or 2” in diameter.

Please do this test & let me know results
Regards Chris..
