There is literally about 1000 thing this could be.. number one thing i would likk at is the fuel filter. change the o2 sensor, check your air filter.. i know it sounds wierd but if your car gets too much air it will stutter, same if it gets too little.

good luck,
best bet is to troubleshoot the fuel supply first thing

I have a 2004 chevy cavalier, won't accelerate when I press the gas anymore, can get it to coast but when I stop the car starts to shake like its about to run out of gas. What could be the problem?

Must be some bad information getting to the ecu. Bad conections due to salt corrosion may be the cause. Bright metal contacts are essential for correct transmission of information from sensors to and from the ECU (brain). I'd take it to your auto parts store ask them to read the Ecu error codes. It may help isolate the problem. Sounds like fuel supply system problems.

Hesitation on acceleration engine runs fine otherwise

My 99 Audi A4 2.8 Quattro was havinga problem starting at times. It would idle poor upon start and then it would come up in rpm where it should be. I had hesitation from a start and after coasting for more than 5-8 seconds, the car would shake violently upon acceleration at about 1/3 throttle. I cleaned the Mass Air Flow Sensor. This helped but did not solve all my problems. I then replaced the Mass Air Flor Sensor. Little to no change there ($108.00). Lastly, I replaced the spark plugs. I bought Bosch plugs ($4.82 ea.). This got rid of all the symptoms. I had bad lugs and possibily a dirty MAF!

Hesitation , skipping, engine cuts out when accelerating

Im having the same issue I believe. I have a 94\' Chevy 1500 and when i accelerate it will jerk like the gas has cut out but it wont stall. It just jerks and slows me down. It only seems to do it when going up a hill. I feel like it could be the fuel pump or possibly some intake gaskets?

94 Fleetwood hesitates and dies going up a hill (12 - 15 mph)

Sounds like A MAP sensor or a bad fuel Pump. Good Luck

Engine rattles at acceleration and hesitates

This sounds like your ignition timing is awry. You'll need a timing light to verify if this is correct. If that's OK the your valve clearances may be a little loose.
